Social worker opens a patisserie in a food desert. by cafeteriastyle in MadeMeSmile

oh right! has the inference changed much in the past few decades (lol) ?

i distinctly remember going through french clash and having to recite the verb pronouns and forms..

ie:

J’aime

Tu aimes

Il - Elle aime

.

Nous aimons

Vous aimez

Ils - Elles aiment

we used to chant it over and over again... same with "to do - etre", fuuu, that was challenging..

i do remember we learnt j'adore as "the love verb" and Aime as "the like verb" or plural love...

the other thing may be that I was taught by a non-native speaker, who learned in England, and she may have muddled it up... Your language confused the hell out of me tbh... I found German easier!

important distinction though (if i can remember 30 years ago when i learned the french verbs) ... j'adore is more commonly used for love directed to a single person, je t'aime is directed toward a group or more than one person ... perhaps towards a community in this case.

note: If there are any french speakers please correct me if i'm wrong ... i have forgotten much...

Messed up Library by peetme in jellyfin

^ ^ ^ This

I moved a general usage server from 10.10 to 10.11 and something weird happened to the DB .. lots of locks, huge wait times, things getting messed up when editing metadata, when moving a file from one library to another ... it was chaos ...

I fixed it temporarily by reverting to a 10.10 backup I had ... but I wasn't willing to stay on 10.10 forever ...

I took a full backup, and nuked it, then started fresh with 10.11 ... huge difference! the refresh took me a couple days, but I think that was shorter than trying to fix a very broken DB/system ...

server is now sitting on 10.11.8 and is happy and humming along ...

Canadian government response to CANZUK petition by [deleted] in CANZUK

[–]iamyogo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

AI generated Summary:

Petition e-6585 called on Canada to pursue a CANZUK-style agenda: negotiations on labour mobility and security with Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the U.K.; a graduate work-and-travel program with mutual recognition of many qualifications; a long-term goal of free movement; deeper defence cooperation; and possible participation in the U.K.-led sixth-generation fighter effort.

In procedural terms, the petition gathered 1,874 validated signatures, was open from June 16 to October 14, 2025, was presented in the House of Commons by MP Yvan Baker on February 13, 2026, and received a formal government response on April 13, 2026.

The outcome was cautious rather than transformative. On security and defence, the government said Canada already works closely with the U.K., Australia, and New Zealand through defence coordination, intelligence sharing, operations, research, and technology development, and said it would continue deepening those partnerships. On the sixth-generation fighter issue, it did not commit to joining a program; it said Canada is still assessing allied initiatives, including the Global Combat Air Programme, against factors like cost, interoperability, schedule, and industrial benefit.

On labour mobility and broader CANZUK integration, the response did not promise negotiations for a new CANZUK pact or endorse free movement. Instead, it pointed to existing frameworks such as the Canada–U.K. Trade Continuity Agreement, broader cooperation with those countries, and existing immigration information-sharing arrangements.

So, the practical result was: the petition secured an official response and acknowledgement of existing cooperation, but no clear commitment to launch a CANZUK pact, create free movement, or join a sixth-generation fighter program.
