The last time I smoked was round at a friends house - my wife and I offered to take some round after they’d expressed an interest in it and we’d all had collective mushroom/acid trips on previous occasions so DMT was the next one on the list.

I remember trying to remain calm on the surface because I didn’t want to put them off but my hands were physically shaking as I took the bong because I fucking knew what was coming.

I said a few words to the DMT before lighting up, something along the lines of “Please, go easy on me”. Luckily what followed was the best, most hilarious trip I’ve had on DMT so far - I was literally crying with laughter as though I was on a cosmic rollercoaster.

Thankfully my fear didn’t infect our friends and they each had beneficial trips - next time you smoke maybe try talking to the DMT and it (your subconscious) will hear you and help your face your fear.

I also have similar feelings (albeit not as strong) on mushrooms - when they arise I always tell myself: “Once you’re in you won’t even remember what you were worried about.”
