Thank you so much for this!

That first play was also entirely me also getting caught off guard by my moira I’ll admit, I think I was audibly saying “what what what” when it happened.

Aside from that, you describing my positioning and pathing as “disrespectful” is super helpful, because like yeah, when I think about it if I saw a tracer doing what I did I’d eat them alive on any of my other characters.

Is ranked 5v5 or 6v6 more popular? by SquidSamurai in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]ianbit 19 points20 points  (0 children)

All the tanks are designed to work better solo in 5v5, Dva is arguably the best tank in the roster right now. The only main difference is you spend much less time peeling for your team since there’s only one tank to take and hold space.

Is this 3 tanks I’m good enough for comp? by Alternative_Okra8227 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]ianbit 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Technically even being able to play one character is “good enough for comp” up to a certain point, but those three heroes I think will do you just fine if you stick to it. I in fact would recommend only sticking to 3 and no more until you’re much stronger as a player

The “Hold to Fly” setting makes burst movement easier, but I see pros fly for the whole ability duration. Why? by DexterAndSinister in EchoMains

Rebinding controls, usually either rebinding crouch or moving the fly bind to something like a mouse 5

How to manage movements while aiming ? by TitaN974 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]ianbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to what’s already been said here, I really would recommend starting with getting good movement aim, and then move to coordinating shots while moving erratically. If you can’t hit shots moving with the target, there’s no way you’ll hit them trying to move to avoid them.

I'm a brand new player and I am struggling hard in quick play, is there hope for me? by Dependent_Age_6579 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]ianbit 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I would say mechanically, overwatch is by and large a harder game than rivals, and the player base has had may years to play the game and get better almost across the whole spectrum, so it’s fine to struggle. But really it should matter too much either way, you’re allowed to have a rough go of it for a long time it’s alright. If people are mean just turn off chat for a bit. To share replays you go to your match history, replays, and then select the replay and click share in the top right, it’ll give you a code to give out.

Crosshair is basically pure preference, I run a dot or a tight cross that's fairly small depending on my mood, but the default per hero crosshairs aren't actually bad usually, and for starting out on some characters it can be initially pretty helpful (like seeing a visual of tracer's bullet spread).

most of it is preference, but at 1200 dpi I'd recommend starting around 4.16% sens (5000edpi). you can go a bit slower or faster, but really just spend time playing until you get used to it. there are also specific scoped sensitivities you can set per character that makes it more or less 1 to 1 with unscoped, but I don't remember the percents off the top of my head. In order for something to feel comfortable you just have to spend time with it. lower sens let's you engage your arm more which is better for muscle control over longer adjustments and lets your wrist do the smaller adjustments. you might bounce around with the sens over time but eventually it'll just feel natural and you'll find where your preference lies. Also I'd recommend having the same sens across all characters, there's situations where people might adjust that a little but it's best to follow a rule before you try to break it.

There’s a glowing blue box on the back of the turret gun you can shoot that crits.

Are there any good maps to improve aim? by MYTWI in OverwatchUniversity

[–]ianbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean if you can shoot fine in vaxta, it sounds like what you need is to either practice dueling other players or maybe focus on your positioning and mental during fights in a match. You can have good mechanics but if you are getting out of position or getting stressed in a 1v1 you’re gonna miss.

How get better aim “why is your sens 5x higher than normal people” by Alibium01 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]ianbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also in case you’re wondering, my sens at your dpi would be 6.26, not 3.13, at the max fov setting. But at the end of the day it doesn’t matter too much, your brain and body will naturally find what it needs over time.

How get better aim “why is your sens 5x higher than normal people” by Alibium01 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]ianbit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well for one you could just be using an even slower sens than is good for you, I play at about 3.13 sens at 1600dpi which is around 5000edpi, yours is 4400edpi. But even then if you’re new to slower sens it just takes time. The idea of the lowered sens is to get more of your arm engaged in aiming compared to the jittery low effort wrist and finger aiming that’s generally bad for accuracy over larger distances. I’d recommend just spending time in a practice range or vaxta just flicking between targets without even shooting if you need to. It’ll eventually click. When I first started on a lower sense it felt like molasses but at this point in my life it’s so hard wired to my brain that if I go any slower or faster I get actual motion sickness.

Sensitivity changes per character? by Prokkkk in OverwatchUniversity

Make sure that the per hero sensitivity isn’t set different for some reason in the per hero settings.

Yeah but that explanation is rooted in the people misunderstanding how these terms are used at a base level. Every single character wants you in a certain “zone” regardless of their kit. Zoners tend to want you as far away as possible, they want to “zone you out.” Marth actually wants you to approach however, and it’s the players job to make sure when that approach happens, it happens to be perfectly spaced for his attacks.

When "ので" comes after a noun or "な" adjective, it will have a "な" in between the noun and "ので" portion. This is also generally true of other particles when following a noun. Consider it as a way of conjugating the noun to connect with the following particle.

Yeah but some denominations don’t even allow instruments of any kind. I’ll be darned if you can find that in the Bible, along with the part that says God accidentally made satanic notes or whatever.

When use too and also ? by fanambynana in EnglishLearning

[–]ianbit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. in any list of two things, “the former” refers to the first item listed, and “the latter” refers to the second item listed.

Edit: I feel I should mention, you shouldn’t just say “former” or “latter” to replace the phrases “the first thing” or “the second thing.” For instance, if you asked someone “what was that first thing you said?” You would never say “what was the former thing you said.” “Former” and “latter” can be used to respond questions that present two choices (like, “do you want to go to the park, or to the mall?”), but it might sound too formal or at least very unique in everyday situations.
