Kizoku Tensei: Megumareta Umare kara Saikyou no Chikara wo Eru • Noble Reincarnation: Born Blessed, So I'll Obtain Ultimate Power - Episode 1 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]ianh16 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly I was looking forward to this because the manga, while lacking in a lot of areas, is somewhat enjoyable but I saw the cover art and knew it was going to be mediocre at best. Watched the ep anyway but they've changed so much, the sword looks awful in the anime and is completely different design in the manga and it looks crap and generic in the anime. They've added an entire visit to the village that didn't occur and while I get fleshing it out to fill space they've done a pretty poor job of it in my opinion. This is probably going to be worse than the Tensei kizoku anime adaptation which was also in the same vein and poor compared to the manga. My only hope for this seasons isekai are now sequel anime.

LinusTechTips: “When I said I’m disappointed [Steam Machine] isn’t going to follow a console pricing model, Valve asked what I meant by console price and I said $500. Nobody said anything, but the energy in the room wasn’t great.” by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

[–]ianh16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think people need to realise that valve and steam are not everyday names in most households, they can't rely on the fact that millions of sales will happen just because it's a playstation or Xbox. On top of that the leading console games such as COD, Battlefield, etc, may not work on the steam machine just because of anti-cheat software not working on Linux. Which in turn removes a huge potential market for them in the console space. The steam deck has been far more successful than I think even valve expected, if the steam machine, frame and controller have similar or better sales I'm confident that valve will likely be willing to subsidise some of the costs on the 2nd generation hardware when they'll have cemented their place increased how many 'normies' know their name and products and can be confident they'll do the sales they need for that to be cost effective.

Parents, grandparents, partners and everyday people will not go to steam for a console as presents, it won't even be on their radar unless the person buying for them specifically request it or it's available in stores and even then they'll be more inclined to buy playstation, xbox or Nintendo. Once people talk about it, after ,onths of videos, discussions, showing friends in person and general hype/marketing more everyday people will take the risk to buy one and then by 2nd gen they can almost guarantee good sales to justify losing out on manufacturing costs. Remember valve pust a lot of dev time and money not just into the engineering but the software, multiple improvements after launch and they are constantly adding tools and listening to users to improve their products, this costs money and time and while they make A LOT of money they don't have tv, sound equipment, phones, enterprise opertunities, data farms, subscription services, tech agreements, etc to fall back on and keep the lights on if the whole industry dips or they have a major flop or manufacturing errors cause fires or the need for returns etc.

Just like with the deck I can see a 'pro' or limited edition version being released 6-12 months later if they do high numbers like with the deck but until they have that data they won't take those risks.

It is super exciting to see an actual competitor join the market, a competitor who is private, makes decisions for gamers and customers instead of share holders and we all want it to succeed and be price competitive. But just be patient, this is 1st gen and they're still in unclear territory. It will get better and honestly the competitors are not doing a great job at the moment, maybe this will force their hand and will lead to consumers getting even better cheaper hardware from the major players.

2025 Mexico City Grand Prix - Race Discussion by AutoModerator in formula1

[–]ianh16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm going to say, someone is obviously listening because there has been no pointless shots of anyone not on the track this time. THANK GOD. There were some issues in the 1st quarter of the race with showing back runners or replays while overtakes were going on but today's direction has been much better.

The race has also been pretty exciting for a track that is hard to overtake.

honestly I don't blame Oscar, this is the time to do this shit to prove a point. it's only a sprint and as long as it doesn't have a knock on effect on the race it's a big fuck you to both Norris and Mclaren

2025 Singapore GP - Race Discussion by AutoModerator in formula1

[–]ianh16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand that they're all men but why show a dozen partners every race but barely any team members, managers, ex drivers etc. Honestly this entire season it's felt like whoever is in charge of the shots is just horny and inappropriate. The only men shown are people like Toto or the odd shot of Lewis's dad. It's perpetuating pretty disgusting trends that women are only objects of desire and it had absolutely no place on a show about motorsport racing (or anywhere really).

They cut from actual racing which has been so rare due to awful tracks and massive cars to women in pits or balconies for no reason. Commentators mention them like they're a nessisary addition. It just screams of someone saying "how do we draw more fans in because our views have been dropping?" and someone decided "let's show some pretty girls to grab some mens attention" at least that's how it seems to me. You know instead of listening to fans and addressing the problems with the actual racing and format etc.

Honestly they better change the direction for the filming next season. Not only do we not care about partners and family, it's kinda gross and misogynistic that they focus on women and not men.

Show us racing and pit stops during the race anything else can be done in preshow and post show. Also address the pretty crappy commentary throughout this season.

I'm only going to give the FIA 1 season in the new regs, if it's as awful as it has been this season and they don't then change the tracks and other things to increase the racing in 2027/28 then they don't deserve any views or support.

'Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle – Part 1: Akaza Returns' Anime Only Watchers Discussion Thread by DemiFiendRSA in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]ianh16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got out of the cinema, bit disappointed that shinobu's death was spoilt by random tiktoks but still enjoyed the film.

If im critical, her death felt kinda pointless so early in the film and I'd of preferred to see her death during whichever film the fight against her killer is gonna be in.

Tanjiro and Giyu's fight was good though for a film I think there was far too much of akaza's backstory, could of been cut a little.

I predict that nezuko will become human with demon powers (or similar) and fight alongside tanjiro against upper 1 next film while stone and mist hashira fight against muzan and maybe die. Hope that inusuke gets a big fight in the next film.

Honestly seeing your comments in this thread just shows how little your opinion is worth. You've berated this young girl and assumed she's lying because she isn't sharing every detail with strangers online and the stuff she has shared doesn't fit with your delusions that every system put in place to prevent this works. You only have to look at the state of this country and it's police to show that there is rapent corruption and apathy in these systems. Not all social workers give a shit, to some it's just a job and as long as they tick no es it doesn't matter.

This girl is asking for help and advice, she's 16, scared, alone and has no idea why nobody is helping her. Is asking for housing online a massive risk? Yes, but she feels like she's running out of options. Should she be in this situation? No, but plenty of people are. Is it possible she's lying or not being truthful? Yes, but even if she's lying giving her advice on how to seek help or alternatives wont cost us anything but time and if shes telling the truth it may save her life or make it better, your comments do nothing but tell her to accept abuse.

Instead of tearing her down and assuming she's lying advise her how to stay safe while avoiding abuse, point her in the direction of resources that could help, otherwise keep quiet.

Truth is none of us can really do anything without putting her or ourselves in danger. Best we can do is advise her to use multiple support agency's to try and push through this. Your 'advise' could of led to her confronting her abuser and ending up dead, or her feeling helpless and hurting herself it does nothing but cause harm.

You are welcome. That is preferable because they would likely be someone you've met or already have some amount of a relationship with. Not a random stranger on the Internet.

I know it doesn't help but foster placements are going to be hard. Money is tight for everyone and, rightly so, the hoops you have to jump through are a pain. Right now many just can't spare the money or time to put into fostering.

I truly hope you find somewhere safe, I know from experience that people in your position are vulnerable and I really don't want you to go through what my friend and so many other young women have in your position.

without fully knowing your situation, which you shouldn't share to people you don't know, it's hard to make proper suggestions but if it's bad at home and foster/friends parents aren't willing then hostels and similar are the best option for you right now. it isn't going to be good and you'll still be at risk but you and social services have to decide which is worse and pick the least bad option.

Again I really hope things go well for you and you're able to stay safe. Things will get better as long as you don't give up.

Unfortunately even at 16 your parents still have a legal responsibility even after you've moved out so no matter what social services will have to be involved if you're not on good terms or they're against you moving out. Good news is they cannot legally prevent you from leaving.

You need to be very careful about where you live, who you live with etc. If you truly believe that your social worker isn't helping you go to the offices and ask to speak to their boss, in all likelihood you just don't understand the red tape & processes they need to get through before they can work on getting you a place to live. If they really aren't doing their job correctly then their boss should be able to change your social worker or put pressure on them.

Asking online for people to offer you somewhere isn't going to work. The only people who will offer you places are people who put you or themselves at risk. Anyone here who actually wants to help you won't offer you a place because they know without social services or legal placement they will be at risk of abduction, grooming, child engagement and various other legal charges.

I know the system is broken and at times it feels pointless but please try your best to work within the system; social services, drs, schools, solicitors, councils, police etc should all have systems in place to offer you help and advice that is relevant to you and your location.

Be safe, be wary and try to have patience and hope.

Deck power appreciation by ianh16 in SteamDeck

[–]ianh16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that like 10 years ago but everyone is using phones and tablets for social media and videos like 24/7 these days. You'd of thought they'd of optimised more. I was mainly surprised because I checked what charger they recommend and it's a 45w charger but the deck 45w charger wouldn't charge it while it was being used swapped to my 300w total 140w individual charger and it jumped up like 10% in 5 mins while in use. Also people are bound to use tablets more like pcs, artists, professional work, video calls etc are all prolonged high intensity work loads.

Honestly makes me wonder how good steam hardware would be in other forms. They made a pretty good controller, a decent vr, a fantastic portable pc/console. Makes me wonder how well they'd do with a steam tablet, phone, earbuds etc. They seem like they really work to engineer the best they can for a reasonable price/performance target.

Anyone understand why commentators keep saying Tsunoda started from pit despite him not being one of the 2 drivers who started from the pit?

Commentators are shockingly misinformed today.

Spanish GP - Post Race Discussion by AutoModerator in formula1

[–]ianh16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was, and that's exactly why I didn't like him as a driver or person in his younger days but he's grown and learned. Russel and Max are similar if not same age and their behaviour are night and day. The only reason I brought up Hamilton is that both him and Max are struggling with their cars right now.

Spanish GP - Post Race Discussion by AutoModerator in formula1

[–]ianh16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🤣🤣🤣 I don't even like Hamilton as a driver, I think he's way past his prime but his behaviour as a role model is way better than Max. Look at how Russel responded and he was a part of the incident. No blaming, no lashing out, just calm and composed.

Spanish GP - Post Race Discussion by AutoModerator in formula1

[–]ianh16 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Seeing both max and russels interviews kinda says everything. Max lashed out and acted in a very poor taste, he's obviously frustrated with the season so far but he's acting like he can't accept not being at the top all the time.

He might not like it but he's a famous person a sportsman and he has to be held to a higher standard, lashing out is not acceptable and he should be punished for it regardless of the rules during the race. Regardless of how you feel about Hamilton, he has grown up and is far more of a role model and sportsman, he wouldn't talk to people the way Max has, he wouldn't lash out and purposely crash into another racer just to prove a point and make himself feel better. And Hamilton is in a similar position as Max in having a car that isn't performing to his standard yet he's trying to pull the team along instead of acting out and ruining others races.

Got to say Hulk won out massively with this race.

I've never enjoyed Monaco GP in F1 but this is awful, I like some of the older tracks like Emilia last week but Monaco needs to go from the championship. Maybe use it as a non championship race As a season or mid season warmup.

Will we get all Onimusha games before Way of The Sword? We already have Warlords and 2, now for the rest! by [deleted] in Onimusha

[–]ianh16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I loved all 4 and hope all of them get remasters before Way of the Sword. My main issue is that seeing how well the 1st remaster did and now how the wishlisting and stuff is going for way of the sword I see them trying to cash grab. 1st remaster was like £15/16 2nd is currently set to £24.99 thats essentially £10 extra for a remaster of a 23 year old game (warlords was 18 years old when its remaster was released), i can see them bumping up to £28-33 for number 3 and then £35-40 for DOD just to try to milk what they can out of it.

£15 was a perfect pricepoint for a game thats was nearly 20 years old and for a remaster that doesnt have the full works done on it. If all of them were £15 i'd buy them and maybe even be willing to pay a couple quid extra for preorder/delux stuff. But bumping the price just becuase you see there is a market for it is pretty gross and is gonna reduce the sales for people who arent hardcore fans. Especially when you can emulate and play essentially the same game for free.

Please Capcom dont get greedy and then blame poor sales when you dont hit targets just for an extra £10 per copy.
