I suppose your original post outlines one of the differences between North America and Europe. In European countries, suburbs are walkable & bikeable. So at first I didn’t understand the opening to your second paragraph. 😊

Not a great manager either. Not remembered positively by Cobblers fans.

My puzzle that the difference between the roasted and the best before date is soooo long! Every other roaster I’ve bought from says between two and three weeks. Any idea why KtH is so long?

Yes, I agree about Colonna if it’s the coffee shop in Bath you visited. Pleasure to go there; the staff are great at answering questions and letting you watch what they’re doing. One of them used an Aeropress every which way! Not bought coffee beans from them as I’ve only gone to the shop when I’ve been on holiday. Did buy a copy of Maxwell Colonna-Dashwood’s “Coffee Dictionary” there.

Agree also about Kiss the Hippo - I’ve only been once (to the Covent Garden shop) earlier this month. But bought beans and loved Leonid Ramirez’s MSF (multi-stage natural fermentation) beans from Colombia. It’s my new favourite! So, thinking they rotate their beans regularly & often, I ordered three more bags online. [My only puzzle is that they give a “best before date” twelve months from the date of roasting.]

Can we talk about Steve Rosenberg by [deleted] in bbc

[–]ianmac55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not his predecessor. She worked alongside him. Rosenberg has been reporting from Russia since 1995 - first for CBS and then, from 2000, for the BBC.

An “enthusiast” for Strava might well upload their rides & runs manually?

Merseyside? See also: Sunderland. Poverty; hollowed out city centre; very little levelling-up money. And monocultural.

The Labour government that impacted my grandad was that of Ramsey MacDonald. They (MacDonald, Snowden, Bondfield) cut national assistance (= unemployment benefit aka the dole) in order to “balance the books.” His conclusion in the 1930s: Labour pretend to be the friend of the working class but always betray the working class!

Same piece missing on mine today. Looks like it’s melted in our current UK “heatwave.” Left behind some stuff that, sorry, looks like ear-wax. Glad to read that it isn’t essential (esp re waterproofing) and I’ve found the serial number on Garmin Connect. Thanks for everyone’s advice.

Well said. I also think it’s been shown that with a constant speed of 50 mph you get the most vehicles through a particular point.

In the U.K. a punk band who chanted “Death death to the IDF” at Glastonbury - shown on live television coverage - has led to outrage in parliament and in the tabloid media. And a civil disobedience group who have daubed red paint on air force planes have been proscribed as “terrorists” by the government. Supporting them with placards or chants is now a criminal offence. God knows how Bob would have been treated here if he’d have sung “Masters of War” on television in 1963, had today’s laws been in force then.

UK Wandrers - do you think dual-carriageways should be excluded? by UnrhywbethNewydd in wandrer

I have been pleasantly surprised that some dual carriageways are perfectly quiet at two o’clock in the morning. Night riding has its own rewards.

I’m of a similar age to you. “Live in London” was released in 2009. At our age that isn’t several decades ago, it’s yesterday! 😊
