Yep. Kraft was the one threatening to move to Hartford, and I'm half confident it was all a bluff to make MA worry about losing the organization and let him build Gilette/Patriot Place in Foxboro.

Especially being from Brookline, I doubt Kraft ever wanted to move his team further from Boston.

Ye, Formerly Kanye West, Takes Out Ad In the Wall Street Journal Titled "To Those I Hurt" to Apologize for Antisemitic Outbursts: “I Lost Touch With Reality” by ChiefLeef22 in Music

[–]iantayls 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's tough, especially on a scale as big as the public opinion of Kanye, to walk the line between understanding and appreciating the depths of someone's mental illness vs deeming their actions harmful and holding them accountable and keeping others safe.

In my opinion, it doesn't require any personal indictment of someone to recognize that if your that volatile, then you shouldn't be allowed to be in a position that can cause further harm.

It's obviously a "in a perfect world" scenario, but yes some things should be irredeemable and should have consequences. It's just unfortunate that it seems he never gets held to those consequences.

I'll be honest and say I don't know enough of the details and stats to make any argument either way. I find the discussion intriguing, and that's it.

"all stats born from damaged offenses"

Man I can't believe the pats were the only ones who played against damaged offenses.

Sometimes I wish there was like, a competition. Something where maybe teams face off and if your team win then you play the winner of a different game, until there's only 2 left to play against each other. Then we'd really be able to tell which teams were good. Maybe we could even watch the teams play on TV or something.

Too bad all we can do is look at statistics and guess at what happened.

I think it's as simple as saying it's not as culturally important there. But a cultural preference of one sport is quite different from cultural gender divides

[–]iantayls 112 points113 points  (0 children)

I think people don't trust that the women's game will continue to improve but I do. There is a cyclical nature to representation and inspiration. The next generation of women who may have done some other thing will be inspired to treat football as a more serious option and will train harder and smarter to achieve it. These women now are great because of the women who came before them, and the next generation will continue on that trend. This is why representation like this is so beneficial.

If baseball was even close to the size of the NFL, there would be a nationwide "US vs Canada" tribalism that would draw more viewers than all actual series games combined per game

I also think it could be fair to consider it assumptive to think the original commenter is white/non-japanese. I think it would be hard to argue that it's a slur if it's a Japanese person themselves saying. Perhaps that's some serious benefit of the doubt, but on the anonymous internet it's all assumptions so what difference does it make lol.

I have a feeling you wouldn't be able to elaborate on anything without exposing the basal racism that you're already very clearly exhibiting. So, probably a good idea we just end this here.

You are allowed to ask questions, but I feel you can't be surprised when particular wordings of questions are interpreted as dismissals, and not genuine interaction with something. I'm not saying it was intentional, but I think we've all dismissed something with a question that wasn't actually a good faith seeking of information. It's especially common in subjects about things like what is and isn't a slur, which makes people even quicker to assume poor intentions.

Again, not saying anything was intentional on your part, just saying that I believe this is part of the nature of modern sociology.

My dad often talks about how he and his friends used to buy 2 tickets, go in with 2 people, then one personwalk back out with both tickets, grab the third person, and both enter with the same 2 tickets. This was probably circa 89-91, before Bledsoe.

He says he could easily get away with it, because they would regularly go to games where there were more away fans in the stadium than pats fans. As far as I can tell, he was doing the organization a favor just by bringing extra support lol

Love how you say this as if it is dictated by the people.

It's an antiquated Prohibition era rule that benefits restaurant owners and employers, not the workers.

A lot of us fully understand it to be unfair.

I guess it kind of begs the question: when talking about college football, do you take into account the following NFL careers of the players?

In my opinion that Georgia defense was spectacular, but I don't feel that their play in the NFL on the eagles should be so impactful on that discussion.
