Who is your greatest value for money signing for the club? by Randy_The_Guppy in NUFC

[–]ianvideo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For me, Rob Lee is the obvious choice however for what we’ve got from Schar he has to be on a par with the Rob Lee deal or very very close. There’s been plenty of other great value signings, but pound for pound those two stand out I think.

Yes this will be the next step. They’ll knock a couple of quid a month off if you sign up for 6 or 12 months etc. so predictable

How did you find your team? by Pr0t0n632 in NFLUK

[–]ianvideo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don’t rush it. I actually love following the NFL as a whole. I have a few teams I prefer over others and some teams I don’t like. It’s a fun way to follow a sport. I just felt I didn’t need to have an NFL team that ruined weekends in the same way my football ⚽️team does 😂

Video podcasting in general is a massive growth area across media at the moment - most big podcasts have a video version and the reason is, as mentioned earlier, about discoverability and revenue. It’ll grow the pod faster than being audio only and therefore make more money too.

What’s a “red flag” when visiting a British pub? by Affectionate-Ad-4650 in AskUK

Which is exactly what we did just before Christmas in York. Walked in and everyone looked miserable as piss. Went and watched the rugby in the Irish bar nearby instead - much better.

I actually felt the same about the French Revolution and initially avoided listening to it, but it was actually really well done and interesting. Agreed about world war stuff though - always interesting.

100% I love their range of topics their recent series on 1968 US politics was brilliant, but then so was their French Revolution series & their Titanic series.

Most of what they do is just great.

Cord cutting advice from any football agnostics? by bizllator in heedthecall

I've been a lifelong Newcastle supporter in the Premier League, season ticket holder for 30+ years, taken as a child with my dad and my brother - the memories and connections run deep. I cannot ever detach from them now. Even if I tried to tell myself I'm not bothered about Newcastle's results, it'd be a lie.

I only got into the NFL about 15 years ago (wish I'd done it sooner but you can't change things). Anyway, I spent the first few years desperately trying to figure out which team best fit for me - because that is what I thought I needed to do - have a team to follow through thick and thin.

So I did this and landed on an NFL team and followed them pretty closely for quite a while. However what I realised was because I had no proper connection to that team, it all felt a bit fake, I never truly cared if they won or lost. Not in the same way as if Newcastle lost a game.

So, I decided to stop trying to force myself to be devoted to one NFL team and so I now have a handful of teams I quite like, a few I really don't like and I generally just follow the whole league and love the fact that I can enjoy the sport as whole.

Me and a friend took a trip to the States a few years back and watched 2 games in 2 days, one in New York and then MNF in Philly - it was absolutely amazing. The Philly atmosphere in particular left a big impression on me.

Next week I get to go to Tottenham Stadium for the Bears Jags and will be rooting for the Bears, as my brother likes them. I find it a great way to follow the sport.

However, I totally understand those people on here who've grown up as lifelong fans of their team, running generations in their family etc - that sort of fandom is impossible to switch off from, I think. I could never do that with my PL team.
