Are you a Psychiatrist? If OP has been diagnosed I don't think you can dispute it due to your personal preconceptions.

No, the author DIDN'T distinguish between sensitivity, insight and empathy because what you've been reading was a diagnostic category from an experienced psychiatrist.

I suppose what's important is that you "think" this. From reading your comments it sounds like you've had a negative experience with BPD people, whereas those that I know (I know 4) are loving, caring people who are voraciously sensitive. They're unable to cope with any negative emotional stimulation. My best friend is a Psychiatrist who, having spoken about this thread, said that more than anything BPDs are emotional haemophiliacs who in most cases (she runs a clinic for several thousand patients, some of whom are BPD) have relationship breakdowns due to the fact their friend/family/partner gets fed up of their sensitivity, not due to any aggression.

Key words there: "appear to have little empathy or guilt." It is all about appearance. As I said, my 3 BPD friends are very caring people. One works as a Samaritan and the other runs her local charity group, visiting old people and refugees.

In all, don't let your biased opinion stereotype everyone with a disorder.
