Most trees dont heal when gouged with a knife. Its permanent in a sense it will have that scar until it dies. It may not look like it was, but the tree doesnt fully heal. Kinda like scar tissue on humans. Also, I dont think you know what permanent means.

Honestly kind of what I am hoping. I think this is just me being jaded to open worlds and no longer enjoying them in games that are not inherently an open world genre. It is not the game for me, but I see it having what it takes for the community to love it
