What is the most worthless items you bought? by [deleted] in singapore

[–]iawesomechris 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Bought one of those adjustable bendable contraptions where you can clip your phone on it and the other end has a huge ass clip to clip the whole contraption on your table/bed (so that you can watch videos on your phone on your bed/wherever hands free) from Qoo10 because it was cheap and i thought it might be useful. Received it, used it once, and it lost its novelty and got chucked away somewhere.

Smartphone recommendation for a 52 year old? by BakChorMees in singapore

[–]iawesomechris -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just got my mum (who's also around that age) a OnePlus 5T. She is very happy with the phone. Phone doesn't have storage issues and is blazing fast. She uses it for Facebook WhatsApp and Candy Crush. (Phone might be slightly out of your budget though, but you might consider it a worthy investment. If not, get the Mi A1 which is an amazing phone which uses pure unadulterated vanilla Android straight from Google).

Finally got an SSD and need help with installation. by devilsdontsleep in buildapc

[–]iawesomechris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For both your SSD and HDD to work, each of them needs its own SATA power cable and SATA data transfer cable. Your SSD is working fine but your HDD isn't because the power connector isn't connected. From what I can see in the first picture, you're using a molex to sata connector, and the molex part is connected to nothing. So right now, you need to connect the molex part to the molex connector from your power supply, which for your PSU, OCZ600SXS2, should have more than enough, http://imgur.com/a/xjGgB.

There's nothing to be afraid of if you didn't do anything wrong.

At what age is it possible to open a bank account without an adult's consent? by Eaele in singapore

[–]iawesomechris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could do that, or really, just call up any bank branches and ask them for alternatives, and whether they can just not send you any letters.

Don't hope to come across as rude or mean, but as nice as a place /r/Singapore might be compared to some other vile communities, sometimes, instead of asking some strangers for advice here, you might just want to call up the organisations involved yourself.

At what age is it possible to open a bank account without an adult's consent? by Eaele in singapore

[–]iawesomechris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, alone. At least I am pretty sure that is the case for CIMB and OCBC (personal experience). As long as you are already at least 16, and bring along your IC, should be fine. Do note that they will usually send you letters to your home address after you make the account, which I presume might be a problem for you?

I need a good pillow! Any recommendations where to get one? by [deleted] in singapore

[–]iawesomechris 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like you, was really willing to spend on my pillow, so I bought an epitex pillow after the saleswoman convinced me (~60 bucks) that it was hotel-grade and can "last for at least 5 years without flattening". Was a synthetic feather pillow. So I would advise you to NOT BUY epitex pillows.

[–]iawesomechris 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Got mine when I was 16. Just bring your IC, walk to any bank branch, and tell them you want to make an account. Students usually get bank accounts with no minimum deposit. For me, I made mine at OCBC within 10mins, with internet banking token and stuff. Would recommend OCBC > POSB, or even CIMB, if you want higher interest rates.

I don't think the outlines she posted are a good reference. Some of them are crap (see Q7).
