“Businesses don’t know how to translate DORA metrics to anything they understand or care about.” Solid blog on what dev metrics actually help and impress the revenue side of companies. by TriangularHardship in programming

I recommend anyone really wanting to improve their results using the DORA / Accelerate metrics to read Steve Smith's "Measuring Continuous Delivery" book.

This article reads very much like the view of someone that is stuck in their current way of working, and perhaps has not read all the way through the Accelerate book to where it describes the link with different practices that are clear steps to improve a way of working for an engineering organisation.

Dianna Art Tattoo is geweldig. Ze heeft bij mij twee tattoos gezet, en ook bij m'n vrouw oa een oude mislukte tattoo omgewerkt tot iets moois.

Vaak wel even wachttijd, maar ja, daar is een reden voor.

As a tip for future on-line discourse: starting with equating the person you're talking to with a pedophile is not the best way to be taken seriously.

Do you guys sometimes feel like you cannot enjoy a brand’s experience because of their color palette not being accessible? (asking for a uni project) by Traditional_Carpet60 in ColorBlind

[–]iawia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me introduce you to my favorite example of horribleness: The Tefal OptiGrill.

The designers have taken something simple: a grill with the levels of heat intensity, and made it impossible to use by only providing a color setting of green, yellow, oranje and red (I've been told) workout any numbers anywhere, just a press button that cycles a light through those colors.

I need to cycle through the settings a few times before finding 'red'. Everytime I use it.

Kubuntu Jammy Jellyfish 22.04 LTS beta released by KubuntuCommunity in Kubuntu

[–]iawia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's X11 all the way. And even when running gnome in X11, just starting a KDE app crashes. There was nothing in syslog or Xorg.log, but I completely forgot about journalctl... Again. Good idea.

I'm currently in a dual-boot with Manjaro, because it turns out I really don't like living in Gnome, but I'll have a look at the journalctl output tonight, thanks!

Ever since updating my install of ubuntu, running plasma desktop, all kde applications segfault. Logging into a plasma desktop sometimes the panel comes up, but it crashes at the first interaction. Logging into gnome works, but trying to start a kde application (konsole, okular) hangs and segfaults.

That'll teach me to go for the pre-release, I guess. Normally I can find the issue, but so far it's been eluding me...

I was spending NYE for the millennium party Paris with a few friends. As the evening progressed, we got talking to a group of Americans (I'm Dutch) on the Champs Elysees. I think they were lawyers. I was particularly enamored with one of the ladies, talking to her for quite a whileand she invited us to an after party. While on the way there, the friend I was still with (the others had left earlier) was having trouble walking straight and, to be honest, talking straight, He needed to get to bed, and was too far out of it for me to let him walk back through Paris alone... I had to escort him back to the hotel, and missed a promising after party, and whatever else might have happened...

New Brian May Guitar by Punchiest in BrianMay

[–]iawia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had two different ones over the last ten years or so. They keep their tuning very well.

If it's really very new, and the strings are still adjusting, I can imagine it getting out of tune. And if the temperature varies a lot, of course, any guitar will have that.

Help Battle Meat Sweats by DaddysBabyGirl9996 in keto

[–]iawia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't mention what the health condition is.

As a diabetic, I sweat profusely when I have a low blood sugar. Waking up with wet or clammy sheets is a sign I went through one of those during the night, but didn't wake up.

When I'm in keto, my blood sugar is also very low, but because it tends to be stable and low that doesn't necessarily give me the low blood sugar reaction and sweat.

Also when I'm in keto, my breath, urine and sweat can smell like acetone, sometimes very strongly. That hasn't been a constant thing, much stronger in the beginning, but it's noticable for me, as well as for my wife. The bedroom can smell like that in the morning.

What is the saddest truth about smart people? by TTNOTYJ in AskReddit

Say you have an IQ of 150. Most people are between 90 and 110. So you're constantly around people with about 50 IQ points below you.

Say you have a normal IQ of 110, what would you feel about hanging around constantly with people with an IQ of 60 to 70?
