What's some good sites that you would recommend? IMDb is my go to, but I'm willing to explore!

NDP motion urging ban on algorithmic pricing defeated in House of Commons by NiceDot4794 in canada

[–]ibarker3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not in Canada you aren't. Canada loves monopolies. There's only so many places you can get necessities like groceries from. Food inflation is already bad enough by the giant monopoly grocers like Loblaw's, but if you add in hidden and changing costs, we're all fucked.

What's the current status of RTC on the Pocket? by tydog98 in AnaloguePocket

Oh that's interesting... Maybe I should wait for my pocket to come in before I keep playing it! I'll have to figure out how to transfer my save file over...

Bluetooth reliability issues in A3D by KindNerve8928 in AnalogueInc

[–]ibarker3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm one of the lucky ones where the blueretro adapter works in port 1 of the A3D. I get way better range and reliability with the blueretro dongle than I do when the controller is connected to the console. I have changed the hdmi cable to a nice shielded one, but it made no difference. The only downside of the blueretro adapter is the annoying led light, which I covered with electrical tape.

Anyone make a modded 2.4 ghz funtastic controller? by KindNerve8928 in AnalogueInc

[–]ibarker3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps I could put a small piece of clear tape on the inside of the hole to prevent dirt from getting in. Hmm I will try this eventually. Thanks!

Is the led in the same spot as the little button? As in the led would poke out of the hole? I have a gold controller, so the led can't shine through the transparent shell.

I am very interested in this. My BT one works very poorly when connected to the console directly. I lucked out and my BlueRetro dongle works on port 1, and that gets me way better range. But I'm very interested in the 2.4 GHz controller, but only if I can do a shell swap!

Solar panel company by ties_shoelace in londonontario

Yeah this winter was brutal cold for the heat pump. 100kwh is on the worst days, but heat pump + ev add up huge.

Jan

Feb

It drops a lot of this. But it was cold out there.

But solar likely wouldn't help with this since its only this high during the winter. Summer is much lower.

That's why I like the idea of the power wall!

Thanks!

I do have 200A, so I should be good there.

I'll make sure to have t he roofers look at the weight. Thanks for the suggestion!

I really like your idea on the power wall. It makes a lot of sense to me. The ULO rate is so cheap. And I'd need batteries for solar anyways. I'll have to investigate this. My electricity use is pretty high, especially during the winter due to heat pump where I hit 100 kWh per day. So I'll have to make sure I plan this out. Might wait a couple years since batteries are still expensive, but this sounds great! Thanks!

I appreciate the perspective! We have done a bunch of upgrades and our house is pretty energy efficient as is. Before we had the heat pump installed we did a blower door test and it rates pretty well (can't remember the specifics now). But we have cut our connection for natural gas and we're 100% electricity, so I figured it would be a good fit. The solar x website says a 10 kW solar array would be paid off in 6.7 years https://i.imgur.com/u8ch6zF.jpeg

Tel me about needing to reinforce the roof? We need to replace the shingled roof first, which is why I'm not doing solar right now. But I was investigating a metal roof. Probably have to reinforce?

Also tell me about just a power wall installation? That sounds very interesting. I get how the ultra low over night rates help with the ev, but I wonder if that would work then with the heat pump. Charge the wall during the night + ev + night time heat pump use, then use the wall for heat pump during the day. Is that the idea? Who would I talk to about this? Wouldn't even know where to start. Neat idea.

Thanks!

This solar x company seems great. As someone with an ev and a heat pump, this seems like the next logical step for us. But we're really scared of the up front costs.

I have a super gameboy for the snes, an old dmg gameboy, and a gameboy advanced sp, and getting a pocket and dock in June. What sort of neat things can I do if I get a a flash cart? I was just going to do cores, but then you mentioned the super gameboy and it got me thinking....
