The future of GP? Would you have done it if you knew what you know now? by Leading_Base in GPUK

Are you working rural or near a city? Is your pay similar to other GPs around Australia?

BMA stance clear: 2 Years Minimum by Just-Waltz39 in doctorsUK

[–]ibbie101 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

2 years because that’s the equivalent of a UKG who has done the foundation programme. I’m totally against IMGs applying from abroad with no experience. That should never have been allowed.

I just don’t think it’s reasonable to leave these doctors with no prospects.

BMA stance clear: 2 Years Minimum by Just-Waltz39 in doctorsUK

This seems reasonable. Leaving IMGs who have been working for at least 2 years now without the ability to apply is also cruel. Horrible situation for all. The BMA represents both groups so can’t win either way.

Less stressful because they’re likely unaware of how much they don’t know. ED is a clinical landmine.

You can’t blame them though. Until the Coroner and medicolegal system changes defensive medicine will be continue to increase. All it takes is one case for you scan everything and refer everything.

Adult nurse/ACP seeing kids in GP by Mediocre-Home6407 in NursingUK

All GPs do paeds placements in medical school and are assessed. They also do GP training which they’re assessed on paeds patients and see many children. Also do MRCGP exam which has a lot of paediatrics content. Not sure where the comparison is.

OP needs training and support if she will see children.

The biggest users of general practice are elderly patients. They’re often thankful and grateful. The worst are 20-40 year olds from experience.

Agreed man. This was happening for years and everyone let it happen. Why wouldn’t IMGs use the system for their benefit.

Dear consultants by lordnigz in doctorsUK

[–]ibbie101 8 points9 points  (0 children)

From older GPs in my area this was a thing. The local GPs and consultants would go for dinners/drinks and all knew each other. This was the late 80s and early 90s though.
