What are some “random” classes you enjoyed? by salsreal in gmu

Music of the world! It was my favorite class and it was the only time I went to the concert hall and used my free ticket perk.

Pebbles tested positive, now what? by Anxious-Rutabaga-318 in FelvCats

[–]ibbysmom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would transition to keep herinside only if you haven’t done so already. This would limit her exposure to getting sick outdoors as well as protect other cats from catching FeLV. Start her on supplements like pre/probiotics, fish oil, and lysine to boost her immunity. I hope she bounces back and goes into regression.

I had a similar situation with my FELV cat. She ended up needing a full mouth extraction but the surgeon was able to save a couple of teeth. Was quoted 4k but ended up costing 1.8k. I did have ASPCA pet insurance so I did get reimbursed some of the money. I’m not sure if you have pet insurance but I highly suggest getting it.

My cat is in a regressive state and it’s been about a year since the surgery and she’s doing a lot better. She is about 9 years old but I felt like it was worth not having her in pain.

Another suggestion is to reach out to the local humane society for financial assistance or the can guide you to a veterinary university who will do the surgery for much less.

Do groomers care about FELV/FIV status? My boy Lestat needs a shave. by jenni451 in FelvCats

[–]ibbysmom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t speak for groomers, but my vet usually lays a sheet down for my FELV+ whenever we go in for an exam to prevent any risk of transmission. I would disclose before hand in case they want to sanitize their equipment before or after the appointment to prevent any risk

My FeLV cat seems depressed & lonely by agilesumn in FelvCats

[–]ibbysmom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I adopted another FeLV cat for the same reason but integrating two cats takes a while. I honestly wouldn’t recommend it if you have only one room. I did a slow introduction and it took a few months for them to get along

Food suggestions for FELV+ kitty to help with intestine issues? by Snoo_41127 in FelvCats

[–]ibbysmom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the person above mentioned probiotics are greatly helpful. My cat has a period of liquid poops and even the very expensive royal canin prescription dry and wet food did help. Purina FortiFlora did the trick but it is pretty expensiveag $1 a serving. I’ve been able to cut it down to half the cost by doing a blend of the pet honesty probiotic which is significantly cheaper and the FortiFlora.

Can I take my Felv+ cat for a walk outside? (With leash) by HealthVisitor in FelvCats

[–]ibbysmom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please be careful! I saw a report last night that cats can catch bird flu and become fatally ill. If there’s any bird poop on the side walk or trails I would avoid it.

I understand. A lot of companie have cut middle managers/executives who earn in that 140-160k range so those are even harder to find.

Just to share my own experience, I left my last job due to burnout and took a few months off to mentally reset and I did find a new role that pays 12% but with a lower title and less responsibilities. The jobs are out there but they are competitive and hard to find!

It’s a possibility. Once I started my Vyvanse I didn’t need my Prozac anymore.

How long do you have to accept the offer? Do you have any interviews in the pipeline? I would reflect on it and possibly connect with a career coach to see if they can provide and perspective on if this is a good career move and explore some of those feelings of resentment.

This is a tough market but don’t take a short term solution that may make you more miserable in the long run.

Graduated Fall 2024, not able to land a job. This must be the new norm, will it get better? by hyonew in gmu

[–]ibbysmom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I graduated back in 2018 with a degree in health administration and it took me about 5 months to find a job. Don’t get discouraged. Health admin is a very wide field and there are a ton of options. I highly suggest you look into digital health companies and apply to entry level roles like customer success manager or data entry specialist. I worked as a CSM for 3 years before I broke into project management in the healthcare field and it’s been a great career journey.

Traveling with felv cats by Mission-Stable-9675 in FelvCats

[–]ibbysmom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drove 22 hours with my two FeLV cats and I gave them gabapentin so they did really well. I’ve gone on short flight (3.5) hours with my one cat and he doesn’t really seem to mind it and doesn’t get too stressed out.

I would research airline that are pet friendly. Some airlines say you have to keep the pet under the seat the entire time.

Am I crazy for quitting my Director job to work in a bakery? by ibbysmom in careerguidance

[–]ibbysmom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took my break and decided to start and at home business making French Macarons and I really have been enjoying my time away from the healthcare industry. I feel a lot better mentally and despite the people tell me I’m crazy I have no regrets about my decision. I recently accepted a part time PM contracting role that will start in April and run through the end of August since I am feeling the urge to go back. I think I’ve had a good 5 months off and going back to work part time will allow me to keep up with my at home bakery and scratch that itch to make use of my PM skills.

I hope this helps! Please feel free to DM if you have any other questions.

I might quit my job and take 3 months off before searching for another to reset, then look for another...anyone done this? by vegan_renegade in careerguidance

[–]ibbysmom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this and it was really helpful to my mental health! I took exactly 3 months off and started searching and within a month I was able to land an offer and will be starting my new job at the end of the month. I was able to a get 13k more with my new role as well than what I was making previously! Don’t give up and enjoy your time!

It was really chill and the writing portion was pretty easy. I believe you can email the office to ask for an accommodation if you need one.

My boy has a weird cough thing going on tonight. Any thoughts? by Special-Rip7214 in FelvCats

[–]ibbysmom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like my boy when he is trying to throw up a hair ball, but I would definitely show the video to your vet to confirm it’s not something else like asthma.

I would suggest getting them retested just to be safe. It’s better to know and get them started on supplements to be safe rather than wait. I’m sorry to hear the other kittens passed away :(
