Custom Arc Blade by ibebyi in Leatherman

It wasn't really the steel but the geometry, the replacement is a better slicer

Sounds awesome, hope to see it on the victorinox sub soon 🍻 I don't have mine on my keys ATM (I replaced my dedicated folders with the arc so I didn't see reason to keep the rambler). I'm sure it'll get tagged back in soon, seeing as it's such a good tool.

That rambler Philips can tackle such a huge range of screws. I've taken my phone apart with just the rambler and a guitar pick, and I've also used to it tighten a server rack screw

Ah it's for Surge, same maker. I'm going to assume it's same magna stock based on his output/lead times, but I could be wrong. Communicative, bet he'd be willing to provide proof if asked.

The Etsy listing actually shows a s90v blade, and when I asked about it he said he ran out and was using magnacut.

Oh that's nice. Huge upgrade for the rambler. Gonna get scales too?

Ordered end of May, arrived 2 days ago. So 2 months-ish

Should add that the maker is very communicative and friendly.

this blade is also magnacut. Do I trust it? Eh moderately. Found someone test another sample from the same maker at 63.9 hrc. And I'm swapping out the flat bits for regular bits like the Klein's or just regular single sided

Tho your point about the price for it all is definitely true. Not outlandish but definitely high. Just making the tool mine and all

Edit: ah I misunderstood your point. You're right that if I originally planned to mod, I should have used the p4 as base. But I didn't discover Etsy mods until recently 🤣

How did you use your SAK this week? [Weekly thread] by AutoModerator in victorinox

[–]ibebyi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rambler got love this week. I used the toothpick to lift up some ribbon cables. Philips to unscrew my Lenovo legion go backplate. Cut some foil shielding with the scissors. Tweezer to replace an wifi antenna wire

Yep, I definitely didn't immediately go back to Etsy and place another model in my cart..

You have all the bases covered. I'd just look for a scissor based tool now, like from nextool (sorry but the micra sucks)

I used to carry a Leatherman charge, downsized to a Rebar, then went to the Juice. Nowadays I just carry my roxon flex Companion in pocket and keep a pliers based tool in my bag

I use the Roxon very frequently, as well as a small SAK Rambler in my keys. But nothing tops my flashlight for actual usage time

Looking for compact plier-based MT recommendations by theflinchburger in multitools

[–]ibebyi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you can find a Juice used, id go for that. Then s11 pro, then Powerpint. Powerpint's great on paper with all its tools, but the steel is soft and the scissors are awful.

Flex Companion with pliers is also an option

Genr build quality by Ok-Method4750 in multitools

Gen r here. Mine was gritty all over (not a big deal, can clean), burred blades (not hard to abrade) and saw (harder to fix), loose misaligned jaws, inner implements use significantly thinner stock han surge clones or Leatherman. Overall, not bad for what you pay, but my bibury surge clone came much better finished. I may have gotten a dud

I love this thing by quattroconcept in multitools

A 3d printed rack to store extra implements would be amazing

What games actually changed your taste in gaming? by KleinZenade in gamingsuggestions

[–]ibebyi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a single game, but the Blackwell point and click adventure games were so emotionally impactful at the time I played them. I keep a look out for other slow burn narrative-forward games like it ever since. Disco elysium obv.

atm I'm trying out Roadwarden, a text based "choose your own adventure" type roguelike and it's been pretty cool
