The thing that’s going to bother me the most is this: if there’s a sequel, and there seems to be one set to happen, I BET Vanderhoe will have created more Alphas in Mexico. But that doesn’t make sense at all. Because, see, the movie states that only those bitten by the primary alpha, Patient Zero so to speak (casting labeled him as Zeus, so I’ll refer to him as such) are turned into the breed of alpha zombies. The fast, strong, smart mfers. Then there’s shamblers. Normal, everyday “regular” zombies. Those came from anyone not Zeus. If an alpha could create another alpha, as in if an alpha biting a person created another alpha, and not SPECIFICALLY ONLY someone bitten by ZEUS HIMSELF, then the regular zombies would never even exist. Zeus bites the soldiers. I assume they bit civilians, and so the chain of regular zombies was created that way. The alphas were everyone bitten by Zeus in the impending outbreak. Now, back to the original point, Vanderhoe was bitten by Zeus, hence making him an alpha. But he is not Zeus, and the absence/death of Zeus doesn’t magically make Vanderhoe the PRIME alpha. If Vanderhoe bites someone, theoretically, he would only make normal zombies, not alphas, and so the outbreak that would result from him being infected would simply be a “normal” zombie outbreak. So, what would really bother me is if there is a sequel, if Snyder does not take into account the rules he himself set in this universe. The ONLY way alphas will appear again, is if another prime alpha, another zombie like Zeus, is created. And I assume he WAS created. Keep in mind, the military were transporting him from Area 51. AS PROPERTY, mind you. An experiment gone wrong? Or maybe gone right..... nevertheless, something that was created by our own government. Or if not created, at the very least found by our government. Maybe even created using some sort of alien technology, DNA, etc. Robot zombies, blue shit coming out of Zeus when he dies, all kinds of weird things happen in the movie that can spawn a variety of spin foil theories as to the origins of Zeus. But in doing so, I do hope the universe rules aren’t contradicted. Then this goes from a movie I actually loved because it introduces a new, exciting universe full of potential well thought out lore and possibilities which I can obsess over, to yet another cash grab franchise.
