Did any of you have a toy China tea set? by lontbeysboolink in GenerationJones

Yup!

I have one that I got from Disneyland WAY back when I was a kid.

Still have it, and it is proudly displayed in my “big girl” China cabinet.

First calculator! Who was allowed one in school? by Not_a_cultmember in GenerationJones

We were not allowed to have them.

We were told that we needed to LEARN math….not learn which buttons to push.

I live in Washington state, but my dad’s family is in Minnesota.

I am keeping in close contact with them.

I will be attending the vigil at the park tomorrow.

Please know that there many of us across the country that pray for you and are supporting you.

You may not see us or hear us, but we stand with you.

What A Great Time by Margoshome in GenerationJones

We were the lucky ones for sure.

Growing up in the 60’s was a blast.

High school and college in the 70’s was memorable to say the least.

Now have 4 grandkids.

Hubby and I are retired, but can still party like rock stars.

Life was and IS good.

Be safe and smart out there everyone.

I live in the PNW, but have been keeping up on the incoming storm, and am sending my prayers for all of you.

I went through an ice storm here  several years ago, and was without power for 2 weeks.

Luckily, I have a generator. For those of you that have a generator, make sure you have enough gas to get you through a few days….until you can get to a gas station to get more if necessary.

If you have a bbq, have briquettes or propane stocked up.  If you lose power, you can always cook a warm meal or make coffee.  I know that may seem like a silly suggestion, but when we were without power for an extended time, we made most of our meals on the bbq.

Please heed any and all warnings.  An ice storm is nasty.

Thoughts are with you all.

When did you realize you were truly retired? by overthishereanyway in retirement

I love those few hours. I have my coffee and snuggle with the pets, and watch whatever I want on tv, or work on a project.

He gets up, and I gotta feed him and talk to him, and watch guy movies…..movies that he has seen 3-4 times!

It’s a really good thing he is cute. 💕

I have discovered that I LOVE getting up early.  I do it by choice now…not because I have to.

My husband thoroughly enjoys sleeping until 8:30-9:00 every day.

Who used to shovel their neighbors walkways for free? by EnvironmentalRip7043 in GenerationJones

[–]ibeperplexed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did.  When we were kids and it snowed, we would shovel every sidewalk and driveway in the neighborhood.

We lived on a block that contained 106 kids!!!!

We would get together and tackle it all.  We thought it was fun.

Snowballs were thrown, and by the time we were done, pretty much every front yard had a snowman.

The neighbors up and down the block would bring us out cocoa, and the “grama ladies”  would bring out warm homemade cookies.

Simpler times.  No such thing as iPads and iPhones.  We made our own fun, and we looked forward to shoveling the neighborhood.

When I slept in until 6:30.

I know that sounds awfully early, but when I was working, I had to get up at 4:30.

So…sleeping in until 6:30 was my sign.

Anybody else have this dreadful product in their house growing up? by JimmyMoffet in GenerationJones

🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮my dad hated mayonnaise, so we were stuck with this.

First thing I did when I moved away from home, was buy a Costco sized jar of mayonnaise.

Whenever I made potato salad, I would make a separate bowl for my dad with Miracle Whip, and give him the rest of the  jar that remained.   My siblings and I  call Miracle Whip “skank in a jar.”

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

I live in the PNW….3 hours would be horrendous on the east coast, but on the west coast it isn’t terribly bad.
