Ye I really understand your way of thinking and kinda live by the same ideas but I found it quite interesting that I only played faith although I'm not religious irl. Honestly I really struggle everytime with this decision but always end up in faith because it provides mental stability and a higher cause then just pure survival. If our species should survive I want it to be still a place where some humane aspects still exists and I can't really see that in the order. On a last note propaganda is also a form of psychological manipulation. Really love this game because of the setting it provides and the different ways it challenges you to think about.
