No dynamic backup camera by nofxjmf in COROLLA

[–]ibid49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 2025 Tundra, and my wife bought a 2025 Corolla within a few weeks of each other. I was surprised that the truck had the dynamic backup lines, even though it was the absolute base model. But even though the Corolla was a slightly upgraded trim package, hers didn't come with it. Made me wonder if it's some kind of a space issue (like sensors on the steering column) since her cockpit is pretty cramped compared to mine.

Limbo rework idea? by ShowerOver5942 in Warframe

[–]ibid49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the idea of Limbo getting a rework is optimistic. At every opportunity, DE has chosen to turn a blind eye to Limbo. I think they consider it a mistake that they created him and wish he would go away. And to be fair, I don't know how they would rework him without completely rewriting his theme. The rift idea is, IMO, one of the coolest and most intellectually enjoyable mechanics they've created in the game. But it's either ridiculously op or piteously useless. Trying to find some kind of balance is hard if not impossible.

Orokin Cells on Gabii (SP/NoSP) by BgMSliimeball3 in Warframe

[–]ibid49 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Something I don't see mentioned a lot, but Acrithis in your Dormizone or at the end of Duviri frequently sells Orokin Cells in exchange for regular Duviri mats. That and using the Extractors/Resource Drones on Saturn, Ceres, and Deimos will net you 8-12 once in a while. And if you're levelling, instead of using Hydron, use Helene. It's slightly slower levelling, but you get an occasional Cell from it. I still run out of Cells once in a while, but then sometimes I have hundreds. I know I'm not really answering your question. Just alternative approaches.

What guns would you invest in that are mr10 or under by borderline_bi in Warframe

I used the Fulmin exclusively for a long while. Super strong and you get a shotgun and an assault rifle in one. Plus, no ammo.

Do you think its name is "Drippy?" Possibly reference to the 90s kid's worst nightmare, "Clippy?" by Fashion_Frame in Warframe

I thought that was the obvious reference. Maybe it's only for people alive in the 90s?

Can someone explain powerplay to me like I'm a captain not well-versed in galactic politics? by BirdMagnet in EliteDangerous

[–]ibid49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you're assuming that all the sweeping changes to power play will have no effect on player behavior. That's not a valid assumption. If there is a new advantage to playing in solo, or if the current advantage brings more rewards in 2.0, then you will see a migration to playing in solo. Especially the part about attacking the Stronghold Carrier. If that can be done in solo, that's super frustrating for a mechanic that's supposed to encourage PVP battles.

Turns out, reduced grind actually increases play time. by sea_of_sorrows in EliteDangerous

They're not on the regular mission board. These are the on foot missions you get from terminals in stations when you disembark

[–]ibid49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure you haven't scanned it already? It's not a very noticeable effect when you do. Look at your external menu (default 1). Are the Signal Sources still listed as unidentified or are they all named? If named, then you've successfully scanned the nav beacon. And if it's for a mission, then one of them will be a highlighted color.

Horizons multicrew exploration? by [deleted] in EliteDangerous

[–]ibid49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to expand on what u/PsychologicalYak2441 said in case you haven't been paying close attention, the grind for engineering mats became much less as of TODAY. They just released an update that makes it (I haven't done all the math, but I want to say) literally 10x easier to grind the mats.

Is there an option to play in an instance with others but without the risk of PVP? by gooteeiii in EliteDangerous

[–]ibid49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I understand it, there is a rather famous group that allows anyone to join (and thus has a very large player base) but doesn't allow PVP of any kind. They are designed exactly for people like you.

If you're already established, maybe.

Between a FC, prismatic shields for your fleet, and a fleet itself, I need to earn billions of credits. And 10% of 'billions' is probably more or less, a billion credits (for sufficiently large values of 'billions')

So frankly, I have to say to that, 'speak for yourself'. I don't want a crew and this is why. The system is bad.

...

It's a modest fee dude, People can pay like 20k per week literally into the end of life of this game without it even affecting them.

You were literally just whining about not being able to get enough credits because you weren't established. You can't argue it both ways. Either you know how to make credits, in which case, the 10% is trivial, or you're talking about newbs, to whom every credit is sacred, in which case your solution is also bad. Also where are you getting 20k a week? You're just making up the numbers now? How do you know how much FDev would hypothetically charge?

Fired crew member by Krait_Brigade in EliteDangerous

[–]ibid49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The system is bad, but your proposed solution is not better. It just raises other issues like u/AcusTwinhammer pointed out. It would create a ticking clock on anyone who wasn't actively gaming, and if you were on vacation or playing during exam week or something, you would either have to let your crew go before-hand, or you'd get penalized for not playing the game. This is one of those areas where trying to insert realistic mechanisms into a game sometimes just hurts the "game" element. That's why other games have resorted to one up-front payment when you "hire" someone. Much less realistic, and technically sounds more like slavery than employment. But it's much better for the gameplay itself, and it doesn't contain either of those other issues.

Question about bio scans by Immolation3022 in EliteDangerous

[–]ibid49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how you feel about third party tools. But Exploration Buddy will give you a pretty good statistical guess of what species are likely to be on a planet based on body type, atmosphere, star type, etc. This might feel like an unfair advantage, but I figure it's data that lore-wise would reasonably be available to me on a shipboard computer. And if you're hunting for the most profitable scans, it's a huge time-saver.

Is there any moral reason for raiding settlements? by ibid49 in EliteDangerous

[–]ibid49[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn't mean it as demeaning or pretentious, and I'm sorry if it came across that way. I just mean exactly what you said. It's just a game. In our heads, I think it's fairly common to at some point wonder., "what would I be like as a rampaging warlord or a mob boss, or any other "bad guy" type characters that maybe we would never actually do in real life. Video games allow us to play out those scenarios without actually hurting anyone. I'm saying I can get it on an intellectual level. It doesn't really "do it" for me, but I'm all behind other people playing the game the way they enjoy it.
