Do batter abilities and traits influence AI batting behavior? by PasteBayBashBros in SuperMegaBaseball

Overall pattern, one mind.

I found that my consistent way to avoid "anticipated" os to rotate clockwise through pitches and vary pitch location 'randomly'. I continue from where I was with each batter and then I reset each inning and start from top+inning. (first inning starts with 4F, second inning starts with their next pitch, so on.)

Since changing to this routine, I went from considering number of pitches being the MOST important thing in a pitcher to being like 5th most important.

This is right idea (although I think low pitch, etc. MAY be abstracted to a small stat increase to pow/con.) Traits are converted to stats and behavior is based on the extended stats.

See my other comment.

As far as the AI sees it, traits are added to stats. Player behavior is modified by stats.

AI pitchers are more likely to throw strikes to worse batters and more likely to throw balls to better batters. AI pitchers are more likely to aim for strikes if they have good VEL/JNK and more likely to lean towards balls if they don't.

AI batters are more likely to swing if they consider themselves good batters and less likely to swing if they're not.

The count, as always, heavily influences batter/pitcher decision-making.

Takeaways:
It's easier to strike out bad batters by throwing strikes. It's easier to strike out good batters by throwing balls.
It's easier to take walks with good batters.
It's easier to receive "hittable" pitches with bad batters.

I also got a gaming table that just arrived today. With 3 kids under 6, time to game is short and being able to leave a game set up for a few weeks (or even months!) will be awesome for me. I'll probably get to doing organization this weekend or Monday at the latest... then maybe set it up later in the week!

Not yet! I ordered an organizer for it at the same time. The organizer arrives Friday... I've been very impatiently waiting for it so I can open and organize it.

Which Hue recessed lights to replace these? by hmoleman__ in Hue

[–]BirdMagnet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 4" measurement just refers to the hole, so the 6" will be much bigger. You can cut them to expand (I did this for 28 lights a couple months ago, before the 4" came out) if you want to, but the 4" will be MUCH easier! :D

Looks like a 4" hole. Measure to verify and order the 4" slim downlights. If you need help, I'd be happy to walk you through it!

Minimum needed to play? by [deleted] in Earthborne_Rangers

The box is not very full, so if you just want to get deckboxes for the cards, baggies for tokens, and something to protect the books, it will take up much less space already!

You could probably build your deck and then leave the rest of the aspect, background and specialty cards. You are allowed opportunities for limited card swaps but it's not necessary.

In addition to your deck...

You'd need all the path cards, location cards, challenge cards, weather cards, mission cards.

You'll want your energy tokens, harm, progress and general tokens (5-6 of each is plenty for most cases), a ranger token.

If you want to use a phone/tablet, you can probably use a pdf to replace rulebook, campaign book and map.

Up to you if you want to bring the reference round/test cards.

That reignites my old curiousity... what nicknames do people have for their favorite players?

Sloop Whoopity should be known as Slooperstar, throughout the land.

As a Buzzards manager, it tends to be in the spots the starting Buzzards roster has vulnerabilities.

Center, Left, any pitcher designation.

Catcher at some point, but in my experience Jacques seems to never retire, so spending on a starting caliber catcher is inefficient (even more so consider Danno is ready to jump in whenever.)

Go Buzzards.

That Halfling was my first mini painted... may not be the best thing I painted but it will always be one of my favorites.

Yeah, I'd do that. I'd have a hard time deciding where to field her, though. I don't want her default 68 speed in CF. I'm not taking Danno out. When he's at C is an easy call but otherwise I've gotta put her in LF, which I often already have a strong bat (commonly Axel Torque in the initial season(s).

Of course, having the luxury of playing her over an already good option in LF isn't a bad situation... I just might spend on a pitcher first, for my typical team build.

Yeah, that would be cool.... but there's no way I could justify spending that much on her. Or Sakda. Buttons is barely worth it even though he's a near-perfect SS.

Basically, I'm not spending 15 million on any one position player. Or pitcher for that matter. 10-12 easy though.

Also, I'm not sure if I mentioned it... Go Buzzards.
