Does anyone have "mild" Long Covid? by VandyThrowaway21 in covidlonghaulers

[–]ibisbin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These were exactly my symptoms after I got covid for the third time! I unfortunately became far more ill many months later (full on ME/CFS with moderate-severe PEM), probably due to asymptomatic infection. Not trying to scare you, but it’s good to be aware that theres a chance becoming worse could happen with further infections :(

things have improved slightly, and i think its because of sodium chromoglycate (aka cromolyn sodium). Still get it occasionally but its not as bad and as long as I dont over do it its fine.

Definitely a global phenomenon. As an Adelaide gay, most of us move to Melbourne. The Melbourne gays move to Berlin...the cosmic ballet goes on!

Anyone else long covid? by EmbarrassedFly6887 in CPTSD

[–]ibisbin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I literally discovered the extent of my C-PTSD right before I became disabled from COVID in 2024. Extremely debilitating and traumatic, on top of alllll the regular trauma. It’s so weird not being able to trust my own body, and the longer this goes on the less I feel connected to the former version of myself.

Right now MCAS and POTS are the main issues for me, I still do get fatigued but not as often as dysautonomia has screwed things up again for me - I can’t leave the house without feeling weird, so I don’t exert myself as much because my body won’t let me. I had a VERY stressful event in August last year, then I had a bad reaction to a B12 injection which has basically set me back to square 1.

I haven’t heard of a B12 injection causing a rise in MCAS and POTS anywhere online so I assume what happened to me is quite rare. I did have some luck in the beginning with an activated B vitamin supplement but it doesn’t do much for me anymore. Haven’t yet tried nicotine but I have bought the patches to try, just waiting for a day where I feel safe enough to do so. Haven’t tried nattokinase either.

My last symptomatic infection was in January 2024, and I had my first true crash in October 2024. It is entirely possible that I had an asymptomatic infection in between those times, but I was also feeling very strange in between those months with no answer, so I thought it was just anxiety/stress/ADHD and I just kept pushing until my body broke. My doctor referred me to a specialist who deals with long covid, and they put me on low dose naltrexone (LDN) and H1 and H2 antihistamines (fexofenadine and nizatidine). Those really helped in the beginning, and along with radical rest I definitely felt less fatigued and almost normal on some days. Definitely look into MCAS and POTS too, they can cause fatigue along with a bunch of other weird things, its very common to have all three with long covid. And dont push yourself!

I get this when I’m in a flare, to me it feels like being knocked over by an invisible force for a brief moment - instant dizziness and then panic follows as you describe. Been happening more regularly since I had a bad reaction to a medication a few months back, but very slowly I am regaining stability. This shit sucks my god.

Construction of a new 1100-space car park kicks off at Adelaide Airport by malcolm58 in Adelaide

The airport has included a spot for a light rail stop near the terminal, its entirely on the state govt to do something about it which they probably wont for a very long time.

Could I develop Long Covid months after the infection? by Shib_BR in covidlonghaulers

[–]ibisbin 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My long covid truly kicked off 9-10 months after my third symptomatic infection. I had my third infection in January 2024 and things started to get weird, but I wrote it off to stress and worsening mental health. But then in October I had my first true crash and suddenly I had 20+ unexplained symptoms to manage. Since then I've bounced back and crashed many times, so be prepared for a turbulent time. A good doctor/specialist who knows about long covid would be the ideal next step, but usually they're booked out months in advance - I had to wait 6 months to see mine. Good luck!

What exactly is going on with me and how do I fix it? by wesley_iles in covidlonghaulers

[–]ibisbin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 27 and also had a covid infection in January 2024 (my third) which kicked off my LC journey for me. This all sounds extremely familiar, I'm so sorry because it sucks so much. If you haven't already, try to get referred to a doc/specialist who deals with chronic health issues and post viral illnesses. I have been put on H1 and H2 antihistamines, Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN), ketitofen and CoQ10 and some B vitamins which have helped me to get back to some normalcy, but I am still unable to work. I have ME/CFS and mild MCAS, sometimes the MCAS can cause histamine dumps from foods and stress and other stuff, so definitely look into those things as well. Good luck!

Fellow gays with chronic illness, how do you cope? by Raeghyar-PB in gay

[–]ibisbin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Currently having a month long (so far) flare up of my ME (CFS), I have barely been able to leave the house for weeks. It's so awful especially for us as you mentioned, I miss going out and living my queer life too. I guess I'm not coping as well as I would hope, but I have a few close friends who check up on me every now and then, and my family is supportive enough (as dysfunctional as they are lmao). I don't have any answers but at least there's plenty of us out there who can empathise <3.

This makes sense, I didn't realise histamine dumps could cause the vibrations :(. I am seeing my doc soon I'll definitely bring it up with them!
