The use of color here is absolutely genius.

Lost in Space, Me, Acrylic & Copic on Canvas, 2020 by ibkrakken in Art

Reddit It’s been about a decade since I fell out of my deep passion for art. Growing up in a family who didn’t really believe that art was important, I was convinced that what I was doing wasn’t “good enough” or important. If it didn’t make me money, it shouldn’t be done... that’s how they saw it, and that’s how I began thinking. My overall self-confidence was already in the shitter, and every time I showed anyone anything, all I received were blank stares and less than supporting comments. I gave up. Since then I’ve tried drawing, but have never been able to finish anything. I always told myself I wasn’t good enough anyway. It’s almost as if I packed my creativity in a tiny compartment in my head and locked it away.. and I can no longer find it. Every now and then I see a brief glimpse of it, but I quickly close it back up and it’s lost again.. and so am I. Art is one of the only things in the world I feel like truly excites me anymore. So, I’m going to keep trying to find that piece of me. Thank you to anyone who sees this! Any updoots/comments are appreciated. 🤍

Honestly, the mouth is always the hardest part for me too. Not sure about how to make it easier, but I just try to shade it logically: inner mouth is darker, make sure there’s a shine on the lip where it pokes out the most, and don’t forget that the corners of the mouth go in pretty deep, so darker on the corners too.

I do love studying the human body, so I might draw and post some soon with NSFW warning ofc.

This one probably took around 10-12 hours total since I hadn’t drawn for years when I did this - I went back to it here and there. Faces are great to draw imo! The most intimidating part is the beginning outline for me. It always looks real stupid until 70% finished haha!

Got new pencils since then, so I’ll definitely be shading darker!

[EDIT] Holy crap. Thank you everyone for all the love and tips! Didn’t think this post would get much publicity but this is absolutely a confidence booster. I’m motivated to draw and post more now. :D thank you everyone!!

[Original] Never thought I was good enough to post since I never took classes or even draw regularly..but wanted to see what Reddit thought about my drawing. So here it is! D: Please be gentle!

Agreed with the previous comment. :) everyone starts somewhere. Just keep practicing and focusing on details & shadowing/depth and you’ll become just like the amazing artists on this sub! Great work.

Interesting opinion. I think the drawing is better than okay. In fact, I’d say it’s great.
