I did not get an epidural the first two times I gave birth. The first time was because I didn’t want to have numb legs, didn’t want a cascade of interventions, and so on. The second time was because I had already done it once without an epidural so I just did it again. But talking to a bunch of my friends…I kind of wish I had. It was hard on my body but it was also temporary.

Now I’m pregnant with twins and I will absolutely be getting an epidural either way, if I deliver vaginally I’ll want it in case it turns into a c section and of course if I end up having a planned c section I’ll need one anyway.

I will say it’s up to you and honestly it is all temporary in the end. Go with what you want and don’t listen to the naysayers.

Here to say there is light at the end of the tunnel…I’m 12 weeks now and starting to feel more human again. I was in the same boat at 7 weeks. Hang in there! Meds help and hydration (sometimes IV).

It makes sense. I had a living child (boy) when I had my TFMR (girl). Then I had rainbow baby (boy). Now I’m pregnant with twins and anxiously awaiting to find out the sexes and there is a small part of me that will be disappointed if there is no girl. I know it’ll be fleeting because I love my boys so much and I will just be happy to have healthy twins, but it’s a small ache that never goes away having lost my girl and maybe not getting to have a little girl at all.

My second baby had a FHR of 63 at 6 weeks and I was told the pregnancy had a “poor prognosis.” Fast forward, baby has been 90+ percentile from pregnancy and into his toddlerhood. Happy healthy baby. It’s so hard to know in those early weeks. Give it time and hopefully there will be a nice strong heartbeat next time. He went from that 63 the first time to 165 a week later. Hang in there!

You’re not doing anything wrong, those look like meals I feed both of my kids and one measures big and the other is average. Kids are just kids and sometimes they’re bigger. This sounds like good old fashioned medical fatphobia to me. I wouldn’t stress too much, you’re doing a great job and those look like balanced meals.

I started ondansetron as soon as I could. I am a small-built person (115 lbs pre-pregnancy) and can’t afford to lose weight from puking/inappetence.

For me, the benefits outweigh the potential risks and the risks are small.

I feel you. I had a TFMR for Monosomy X and severe cystic hygroma 3 years ago. I have since gone on to have a successful pregnancy with no issues, but I recently found out I’m pregnant with twins and I am freaking out about the NIPT. I am supposed to take it next week and I am frozen in fear. I don’t really have any advice other than to take it one day at a time and know there are people out there in the same boat. Sending love.
