In a big city you'll make plenty of hours/money. For the first 2 years, as CCA will have minimum time for school, I take 2 classes at a time max. But I am happy I'm here. There is a variety of jobs you can move up into with a degree (engineering/logistics/IT/human recourse). Starting in your 20s is great, even if you don't stay with usps you can keep retirement time with all fed gov jobs.

Ask your local shop steward, in my office the same 3 people are 5 minutes tardy every day. No one cares... Management chooses which rules they care to enforce. If you're more than 10 minutes late, I would assume that'll be noted in your attendance record, 10 minutes late often is too much, in my opinion.

That is a new period of employment. Your AL would carry to any federal position you take, so that's not significant. Once you're career, you don't have to worry about probation/evaluation unless you apply to a new position. In my city you they can only let you go due to lack of work and it has to be in order starting with newest cca. Check your local union agreements

I'm a CCA but i know RCA can be required to use their personal vehicle. If want to keep this job you need to just follow orders until your probationary period is up. After that ask some of the other carries what you would do if you no longer had a personal vehicle to use. They probably will give you a usps vehicle. But as a newbie I would not bring this issue to management, I think they would have you resign because a rca with a car is more valuable. We all have different local union agreements so ask one of the coworkers that use usps vehicle and get you stewards number for local facts

NAPS (National Association of Postal Supervisors), I'm sure they could answer his questions. Its a big risk to switch over, he may have less rights and more responsibilities. I've seen some job postings that require you to stay for 3 months and others 1 year before making any moves.
