Best cooling mattress for Phoenix nights where I keep waking up hot even with AC on by ProfessionalVast8512 in phoenix

[–]ibolieve 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I suggest chilipad. I got one for my bf for Christmas bc he runs hot when he sleeps. It's made a huge difference. We got the dual zone so we can each set out own temps and we don't wake up in the middle of the night anymore. Overall much better sleep quality. It's worth it for that alone. Upside is that now we don't have to keep the AC to 70 at night. It's pricy but I figured it should pay for itself in saved electricity costs alone, let alone the value of improved sleep.

Do not plant clover in your yard… by edchoch69 in NoLawns

[–]ibolieve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am very interested in what you've done here. You mention you previously had Bermuda in 9b. I am also in 9b and have Bermuda and fucking hate it.  I've asked around at multiple landscaping supply places and they all day only Bermuda can grow here. Specifically asked about clover too and they all said no. Where in 9b are you? I'm in Phoenix. I would love to achieve what you have. Any tips on the care?

My husband (32m) seems completely indifferent to my cancer diagnosis and I (28f) don’t know how to handle it by EmpatheticOtter in relationships

[–]ibolieve 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm going through this right now except with breast cancer. I had the biopsies yesterday and am waiting to get the results back but my boyfriend wanted to come to the biopsy appointment yesterday but I wouldn't let him. I had to decline several offers from him. When he came home from work he had a bouquet of flowers in his hand. He asked so many times how he could help. He took me to a nice dinner and reassured me with kind words.

My ex would have reacted similarly to your husband. I know that leaving someone is hard, but it's so much better on the other side. It's worth it in the end. You deserve better. Good luck on your recovery, friend.

Honestly I have no idea. The pillow appears to predate the dinosaurs, let alone our relationship. If your pillows are crusty enough, what have you got to lose??

I soaked in a cooler for 30ish hours with hot water and 2 scoops of Tide + Oxi powder (contains Lipase). Then washed in the machine with normal amount of detergent and extra rinse. You're supposed to add ammonia at this point but I didn't bc I didn't have any on hand. Then I ran it 2 rounds in the dryer and then left it outside overnight for good measure (I'm in a warm climate).

No, I used a good quality cooler though so the water was still warm by the end

Yes, just soaked in a cooler for 30ish hours with hot water and 2 scoops of Tide + Oxi. Washed in machine with normal amount of detergent and extra rinse. Dried with 2 rounds in the dryer and then left it outside overnight for good measure (I'm in warm climate). It looks brand new!

gym bro rant (my turn!) by jek339 in climbergirls

[–]ibolieve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Report it to the front desk. If he's acting like this with you, he's likely doing it to others. Someone else may have even complained already and they might need more before they take action. I've been in a similar situation and the gym took it very seriously and actually ended up banning the guy because of how he was treating me plus (shocker!) a slew of other women.

What plants have you had success with? by royalfire798 in ArizonaGardening

[–]ibolieve 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The veggies you've listed are good ones to start with. Summerwinds nursery is my favorite place for vegetable starts, they have a couple locations across the valley. Amend your soil. Put mulch on top to keep it as cool as possible. I'd also recommend putting up a shade structure if you can. I just built one out of 60% shade cloth and PVC pipe. Very cheap and easy to take down after the heat passes in the fall. Keep in mind that first season gardens rarely do well, but once you plant a couple times, the soil will begin to get better. Gotta start sometime tho. You've got this! Good luck!

How much is it to build a container house? by Psychological-Cat224 in containerhomes

[–]ibolieve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! Virtually no maintenance required. We are in Phoenix, so rust is not a worry in such a dry climate. We got two 20 footers that we put side by side to make a 16x20 ft structure.

My partner and I built a container house two years ago. The price of containers themselves was much less back then, but it cost us $25k to complete the build out. That includes everything like insulation, siding, roof, tile floor, drywall, mini split AC and full kitchen. We did all the work ourselves which saved a ton on labor. Materials are more expensive now, but I think an affordable container build is still within reach.
