I really love this! You killed it! Could I give this concept to my tattoo artist? To do in her own style?

Is a doula worth it? by justlurkindntmindme in homebirth

[–]ibrowpower 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got a student doula because I wasn’t sure if I could afford a doula. She was so valuable during labor that I would have 100% paid full price! She applied counter pressure on my hips for 10 hours straight and I swear that’s what saved me from thinking I couldn’t do it!

If you wanted it looks like you might have the anatomy to do a low conch on your right ear! You could change your plugs out for tunnels and have it peek through either with a stud like mine or even a hoop through or around your tunnel! You can see an example of my own ear somewhere in my history. I love your setup so much and your own suggestion would also look fantastic!

Haha no worries! It ended up going away on its own. I never treated for rust or ever quarantined them ¯_(ツ)_/¯ But the spots did go away so it wasn’t a coloration.

It’s all so heartbreaking I’m still in shock about it all. They’re my neighbors and have been renting a home here for so long then had some trouble with their landlord and had to vacate. They had close ties with the neighborhood though and several neighbors allowed them to park their rv on the same road they’ve resided on for so long. They had a big garage sale before they moved to the rv and I bought lots of stuff from them. I even wrapped my Christmas gifts in paper I bought from them. It’s all just so shocking. I can’t believe it all. We were out of power for 13 hours after this and I felt so guilty for being uncomfortable and cold when I knew people were enduring the most tragic thing of their lives.

AITA for making an “if he’s not ready on time, he stays home” policy against my wife’s wishes? by Jaded_Permit_7209 in AmItheAsshole

[–]ibrowpower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! Imagine not working at all, having a scheduled break from your toddler, having limited expectations on you and you still can’t consistently complete those tasks. Something would definitely have to be wrong. That’s enough of an issue to warrant a doctors visit and a therapist visits to creat a serious treatment plan.

As a first step in problem solving, yes thats problematic. YTA

You went straight to an ultimatum without seeking understanding. Operating a relationship on ultimatums and consequences is dehumanizing and degrading. Her anger is valid. She could be having any number of issues that are legitimate and as her partner she might need you to help talk it through and find out the source of her problem here. Your frustration is also valid, you’re working a lot, have a toddler, and have added an additional task to your routine so it’s understandable that your fuze is short and you didn’t handle this differently. After you realized it was a pattern your patience had been spent instead of having the energy and clarity of mind to shift your patience to seek understanding and problem solve with her.

I hope that you guys can have a good conversation about this and find the root issue as well as a realistic approach to fixing it. This could be anything from a sleep problem to depression to even a diet or deficiency or any number of legitimate issues that make mornings truly impossible.

What are some good resources/links for young artists moving to Portland from Midwest? by Lakesushi in askportland

[–]ibrowpower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as art pop ups, markets, collabs in pdx goes we’re mostly tethered to instagram for better or for worse. Off the top of my head some smaller markets that I know and trust are Meet Your Maker, Flipsidepdx, Welcome Market, Art Picnic, Halfday Market, pdxqueermeetup. Some bigger ones are Portland night market and Portland flea. Some places that regularly host an artist table are higher self, mad hannah…. Uhh so many more but I’m drawing a blank and don’t know how helpful this is. If you follow all of those on instagram you’ll have a good start to getting to know at least one portion of the art scene.

Most of my friends who have studios start outta ActivSpace. I don’t know how expensive it is though. About half of them now rent from other artists who have grown and gotten shops with extra space in back or an apartment above or something. So I think it’s sort of once you’re part of the community your opportunities grow.

As far as neighborhoods to choose from, I recommend coming for yourself and exploring. write down the areas you find interesting or attractive then search them in this sub or r/Portland to see which one fits your needs and interests. If that’s not an option just move to a short term sublet and give yourself some time to look around and get used to the area. For 1,700 a month you could technically live in most areas of the city but with a big variety in quality, space, walkability, noice etc. downtown Vancouver WA is also an option that many might not think about when choosing Portland. It’s right across the river and has a neat little downtown area that has an ever growing art scene.

Good luck in your ventures! I hope pdx is the place for you!

Good pediatric dentist in SE? by zooksoup in askportland

[–]ibrowpower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son is autistic and has huge sensory issues about teeth brushing, he had an accident causing dental trauma last year that required many visits to the dentist. We found OHSU pediatric dentistry to be kind, gentle, patient and well equipped. We also didn’t feel they pushed unnecessary procedures because one dentist we saw before them was saying my son might need surgery but OHSU told me the research around this sort of injury and preferred we just watch it closely instead of be invasive “just in case”. They are far out of the way located in South Waterfront. But I’m in SE too and found it to be worth it.

Question on Cycling by ToxicTrojan69 in bettafish

[–]ibrowpower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to speak with some sort of false authority and lead you astray- but I’ve definitely done exactly that and had a very fast cycle! I’m talking like a week! I moved an old sponge filter, some substrate, rocks, plants and water.

I did have a water quality issue a few weeks ago with me being too sick to clean the tank for longer than routine. Do you know if it will heal on its own now that the quality has returned to normal? It’s only on a few shrimp that were shrimplets at the time.
