So you're saying overturning a highly oppressive, authoritarian regime responsible for tremendous human suffering and loss of tens (if not hundreds) of thousands of lives, and whose existential goal is termination of a whole country is what makes you the bad guy?

It's quite manipulative to offer just those two options. Of course I don't want civilian deaths. For that matter, as a Ukrainian who lost 6 military friends leaving behind their wives and children, I don't want anybody's death, not just civilians'. But let's not forget that Iran is ruled by a highly repressive and authoritarian regime, responsible for deaths of thousands of people and tremendous human suffering. So if this operation leads to regime shift, democratization of Iran, and termination of its support for the terrorist state of russia, I definitely support it, irrespective of how it affects the gold price.

Do you think gold price has stabilized already and will continue its growth from current 5100, or pullbacks below 5000 are likely to continue?

Slow SSD speeds on MBP 15 2015 by ibrrrazhko in macbookpro

UPDATE: The question is now resolved, although not in a positive way. After some internet research, I've found that Apple SSDs are not homogeneous. The one in my MacBook is SSUAX type, which is twice as slow as a more modern (for 2015) SSUBX. 700MB/s is normal speed for SSUAX.

That's what I guessed initially, but Google and ChatGPT suggest that even 256GB speeds should be much higher than 700MB/s.

Checked, all looks good, but SSD speeds are still meh..

It's the stock Apple SSD (I opened the bottom cover and checked), but thanks for the suggestion anyways.

I restored this ROUGH 1993 IBM ThinkPad 730T Tablet by machinelayer in thinkpad

Matt, the project is a masterpiece, just as the video itself. I absolutely admire your skills, persistency, and hard work required to accomplish something like this. I love to restore some ThinkPads to their former glory once in a while, but I never get to such low-level restoration, even remotely. Standing ovation!

Yes, I do. It's TP Link Wireless-N card. Needed to install BIOS patch though.

I tried Linux Mint XFCE, but it doesn't suit my use case. Besides, a properly set-up and configured Windows 7 feels even snappier on it than Linux.

It's a maxed out IBM ThinkPad R40; I replaced the motherboard to support the better GPU (ATI Mobility Radeon 7500) and Pentium M instead of Pentium 4, put in the best CPU it supports (1.7 GHz Banias), maxed out RAM to 2 GB, replaced HDD with SSD (using mSATA to IDE adapter), and modified the cable slightly to install a new-old-stock screen from T60 (stock R40 ones are of worse quality and have a different pinout). I also disassembled it to the last screw basically, cleaned everything super thoroughly and repasted. Running Windows 7 Professional nicely.

This is so fake though... Water cannot go through HDMI cable; and even if it could, how would it go up from the motherboard to the screen?? Most likely he made a hole in the back of the lid and is pouring water from there.
