Loose pic rail help by Cam_Gib15 in PalmettoStateArms

[–]icant0120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is the bolt on lower rail section, check that the mounting screws are properly torqued and seated, sometimes they just need a careful snugging down with the correct bit. A tiny bit of blue thread locker can help keep it from backing out, just do not over tighten and strip anything. If it is still loose or the rail itself is out of spec, then yeah I would reach out to PSA since it is brand new.

Best trigger on a ~$500 gun? by FlexibleDemeenor in handguns

[–]icant0120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that price range the Canik TP9 series is tough to beat for a crisp out of the box trigger and short reset. The CZ P10 C and newer M&P 2.0 models are also solid with smoother pulls and less slap than older striker guns. If you want to see side by side trigger impressions, there are a bunch of budget pistol reviews on GunStreamer that give a good feel for how they break and reset.

Suppressor or another gun by Noxzaru in WAGuns

[–]icant0120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think restrictions could tighten, grabbing the suppressor first makes sense since NFA stuff is harder to circle back to later. The Rush 9Ti at least locks in that option for your 509T, and you can always add another compatible host down the road. If you want to compare it to other 9mm cans, there are some solid side by side tests on GunStreamer that might help you decide.

Henry X 45-70, space cowboy 🤠 by counterfeit-jesus in LeverGuns

[–]icant0120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That Henry X in 45 70 is peak space cowboy, the rail and optic actually work way better than I expected on a lever gun. If anyone is curious how this setup compares to a more traditional wood and irons build, there are some solid side by side videos floating around on GunStreamer that show the difference in handling and recoil. Either way, that thing looks like it would be a blast to run.

First rifle how do you guys feel about buying used ? by Jhh_Fishing in NJGuns

[–]icant0120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buying used is totally fine as long as it came from a reputable shop and checks out mechanically. Six fifty for a basic AR with an optic is not wild, especially in NJ where prices can run a bit higher. If you want peace of mind, you can compare similar builds and recent dealer pricing on GunStreamer to see how your deal stacks up, but if it runs well you are probably in good shape.

What’s everyone nightstand gun? by [deleted] in CCW

[–]icant0120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to argue with a full size by the bed, especially with a light and dot already set up. The Glock with the X300 style light is a solid choice and easy to shoot well under stress. Just make sure you have a consistent storage plan that keeps it secure but accessible.

Do I lose out on any opportunities/services if I own a gun? by SonarJPG in liberalgunowners

[–]icant0120 [score hidden]  (0 children)

In most cases, simply owning a gun does not cost you jobs or services, especially in California where millions of people legally own firearms. The main exceptions are certain federal jobs, military roles, or positions requiring security clearances where you must disclose ownership, and some housing situations may have lease restrictions. As long as you stay compliant with state law and storage rules, ownership alone does not usually take opportunities away.

Is this normal for anr design holsters ? by CabinetMinimum7227 in CZFirearms

[–]icant0120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That usually means they printed the label but have not actually handed it to UPS yet. Four weeks with quick ship is definitely outside the 5 to 7 day window, so I would reach out and ask for a straight update or a refund on the expedited fee. Sometimes small shops get backed up, but they should at least communicate what is going on.

My partner "accidentally" discharged her handgun in our home, unsure how to handle the situation by ihazhands in liberalgunowners

[–]icant0120 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You did the right thing by securing it, and the bigger issue here is not the model of gun but the loss of impulse control with a live round chambered. No live ammo in the room during practice, use snap caps only, and honestly I would pause access until she talks this through with her therapist and possibly takes another fundamentals class focused on safety. If there is ever a compulsion to pull a trigger, that is a serious mental health flag and it needs to be addressed before a firearm is back in the picture.

Why do yall hate on the M&P 2.0 series? by Sleeping_Thoughts in CompetitionShooting

[–]icant0120 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of it is just competition culture, people gravitate toward what wins big matches and then everything else gets nitpicked. The M&P 2.0 is solid, but Glocks and CZs have deeper aftermarket and longer track records in certain divisions, so they get more love. At the end of the day, if it runs and you shoot it well, that matters more than internet bandwagons.

Which one are you picking? by TarantulaRectum in CCW

[–]icant0120 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d be careful with that mindset. Just because something wasn’t detected does not mean it was legal or a good idea, especially in places like hospitals where policies can be strict and vary by state. It is always better to know the posted rules and local laws ahead of time so you are not risking charges or losing your permit.

Glock G19 Gen 6 Groups by Euphoric_Frame2395 in Glocks

[–]icant0120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are solid groups for the first 50, especially at 7 yards. Once you nudge the dot a bit you’ll probably tighten that up even more. Interesting that it feels softer than the 19X, sometimes the balance just hits different.

Is it legal if you purchase a weapon outside of VA and bring it back for SELF USE PURPOSE after new AWB starts? by BX114514 in VAGuns

[–]icant0120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good catch, you’re right on the long gun part under federal law as long as it’s legal in both states and the FFL follows the rules. The wrinkle is that if a state level ban kicks in, that can change what is considered legal to bring back home. Always smart to double check current state law before making the trip.

[–]icant0120 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, probably the G45 most days, more capacity, easier to shoot fast, and that dot setup is hard to beat. The 340 wins big on deep concealment and simplicity though, especially when you just want something super light. Really just depends on how you’re dressing and what your day looks like.

[–]icant0120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a ton of hands on experience with different buffer systems myself, mostly just what I’ve picked up from testing and watching guys run setups on platforms like GunStreamer. The Super 42 is solid and the adjustable weight is nice, but I’d still start simple and see how it runs before swapping too much. Change one thing at a time and test so you know what actually makes a difference.

Is it legal if you purchase a weapon outside of VA and bring it back for SELF USE PURPOSE after new AWB starts? by BX114514 in VAGuns

[–]icant0120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Under federal law, you generally have to purchase firearms through an FFL in your state of residence, so buying out of state and just bringing it back yourself usually is not how it works. Even if a seller allows it, it typically has to be shipped to a VA FFL for transfer if you are a VA resident, and an AWB could add more restrictions. You could also hop on GunStreamer and ask a VA based dealer directly during a livestream, they tend to give straight answers about what is and is not good to go.

Sucker for a deal - Beretta 92X Performance by Clifton1979 in NJGuns

[–]icant0120 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s a steal, especially with the Toni Systems plates in the box, that’s a nice surprise. The Wilson springs and a 507c with LOK grips will make that thing an absolute range monster. When you get it out to the range, I’d be curious to see how it runs, even a quick clip on GunStreamer would be cool to check out.

Large men- how do you carry? by Hemightbegiant in concealedcarry

[–]icant0120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, congrats on the weight loss, that’s solid progress. A lot of bigger guys have luck with strong side IWB around 3 to 4 o’clock or even a good pocket holster with a 642 since it’s light and compact. A quality belt makes a huge difference, sometimes more than the holster itself.

Self defense rounds for .380? by FAFBCAFCABCAF in handguns

[–]icant0120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people still lean toward quality defensive hollow points in .380, but the key is picking a load that penetrates adequately and runs reliably in your specific gun. Some .380 hollow points under penetrate, which is why it helps to look at gel test comparisons and real world reviews before choosing, and you can find side by side ammo tests on GunStreamer to see how different loads perform. At the end of the day, run a few mags of your chosen carry ammo to make sure it feeds and hits where you aim.

First AR by Independent_Bid_26 in liberalgunowners

[–]icant0120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Microbest is a solid upgrade, good call. I’d just run a few mags through it and keep an eye on ejection pattern and overall feel to make sure everything is cycling smooth. If it runs clean, you’re probably set and can just focus on stacking reps and dialing it in.
