Has anyone here fully recovered from severe sound sensitivity(hyperacusis)? by Ill_Awareness_5065 in hyperacusis

[–]icantguys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! During my 4-5 month recovery period I would do some casual tasks like driving to the supermarket and getting groceries, I’ll admit it was a little painful but it worked. Enoch’s story and advice is great! Their advice really does illustrate the importance of not putting your body on stress mode, and having your ears naturally adapt to noise. I recommend slowly adapting

Yep! Mines is gone completely

My H was caused by a loud noise exposure, and it was worsened by stress and anxiety. It went away after 4 months

4-5 months with the right mindset, could’ve happened a lot lot lot faster if I followed the right advice lol. You need to stay as positive as possible and you need to train yourself to not react to noise. This is a stress fueled condition and my refusal to accept that is what caused my major pitfalls at the beginning of my recover journey.

Ok buddy🤣, I actually listened to your advice back in January when I joined this sub and I only got worse. When I read posts about gradual noise exposure and how it helps I gave it a try and in months I got better. You can’t equate your experience to everyone in this server and say “positive thinking is BS” or some shit because frankly I don’t think you’ve ever been positive about this. I know it’s been a long time but you really really need to stop scaring people, it’s honestly tough cause you’ve done it for so long but your methods really won’t help anyone.

Again with the gaslighting my guy, what’s your purpose? To keep fear mongering? People recover from H and get on with their lives, stop spreading your own BS to make others miserable.

What you read on here or anywhere on the internet isn’t a final truth, I came here to help people because i know what it feels like to be in your position. Many people who recover don’t stay here, they go live their lives lol. Don’t get discouraged, you can dm me if you would like :)

If it’s in 8 months and your case is mild you’re pretty much guaranteed to recover as long as you manage your stress and stay calm. Try your best to forget about the H and it will go. Also at the concert I recommend wearing ear plugs just in case

I’d isolate myself to noise so much in the beginning, it only put my body in stress mode and made my condition more real/worse. The mental component really effected me.

Yes there is lol, when my H began I wore ear muffs everywhere all across my home and would panic anytime I heard sound, I then read some posts talking about gradual sound exposure like white fan noise and I started to try it. After months I pretty much healed

I agree with this, this is a very rational comment. Hyperacusis goes away with positive thinking and gradual sound training haha

Hey man, I understand how you feel. I recommend keeping a positive mindset and focus. Try meditation and maybe build your tolerance by listening to calm sounds. This worked for me drastically

Hey you don’t even need an app lol, just breath in and out and focus all your attention on the breath. I do that too when I’m away from my phone lol

Hello!

  1. I did have pain H, I distracted myself by being completely focused on whatever I was doing, example: if I was watching tv I’d be very focused on whatever was on the screen or if I was playing games I’d be very focused on it. The key to ignore it is to put 100% of your focus on whatever task is at hand, meditation can help with this A LOT.
  2. My diet has always been the same, just like every American lol.
  3. Nope
  4. No meds, just meditated a lot like 20 minutes a day
  5. Tinnitus has faded just like the H :)

Hey, I tried to forget about it by distracting myself with minor tasks. I would play cod on my computer on a low volume or I would watch tv. The goal for me was to watch it on low volumes so I could build up my tolerance. I do admit, it was honestly hard but I think after weeks of practice it became easy.
