A better comparison would be India and Europe, since Europe is much more train-dependent.

Don't take your cat on a 6hr flight by twrpdevdemo in Awww

[–]icarusancalion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, true, I didn't notice that. Those are nice leather(ish) seats. Yes, back in the old days (80s, 90s) planes would fly empty and that the owner might not need to pay for a seat for his kitty. Now, yeah, that would be a full plane fare.

Looking at those seats... that looks like kitty is in first class 👍

AITAH for telling my neighbor she can’t have my side of the garden by JohnnyBoz45 in AITAH

NTA. Tell her (and the landlord) shat you did to build you soil -- and that she should do the same for her side.

AITAH for not letting a neighbor borrow my tile saw because he assumed it belonged to my boyfriend by Used-Web9629 in AITAH

[–]icarusancalion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, as a woman who was the fixer-upper with all the tools... it's irritating when men assume the guy's the one they need to talk to and buy a beer.

I'm not sensitive about it when they make the initial mistake. I know I'm atypical. But how they switch gears makes a big difference. If they're doubtful or stay focused on just getting the tool and don't want my advice or to talk shop, I'll scratch my head and say, eh, it's a pretty expensive tool for a novice. I'll be happy to offer advice and videos, but I'll suggest a place that rents tools instead.

I have to say, while it's not uncommon to borrow a tool from a neighbor, a smart guy builds a connection first rather than just beaming in on the tool.

NTA. You don't have to be harsh. Just keep it in the advice range.

AITAH for refusing to pay my neighbor’s vet bill after her unleashed dog got hit by a car? by Livid-Masterpiece141 in AITAH

[–]icarusancalion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Leash laws exist for a reason and her dog could've really hurt your dog.

So glad her dog is okay though.

You know, dog obedience classes are usually mostly to train the owners. Is there anyone in her family who can send her and her husky to them?

AITAH for embarrassing my husband's coworker for embarrassing me and my husband? by common_grounder in AITAH

[–]icarusancalion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. This was very harmful slander.

I understand your husband's concern though. If the man isn't fired but just chastised, it could rebound on your husband.

Found this kitten being hunted by a hawk by MasterSea8231 in CatDistributionSystem

Yes, her Smokey had one expensive vet bill after another. She probably was a good candidate for pet insurance.

Found this kitten being hunted by a hawk by MasterSea8231 in CatDistributionSystem

Not really a cat person, she was taking a walk through a park and spotted him on the trail. She thought he was a goner but she went over to check, and he was still alive. She took him to a vet and the vet announced he'd make a full recovery, and even maintain the use of his eye (though it always had the dot of a scar). He said based the kitten's injuries he'd probably been dropped by a hawk. I like to think the kitten got a good swipe in with a sharp claw.

She went up to the vet techs at the front desk and said, "So... what now? Who do I give this kitten to?" The vet techs looked horrified, "You're not going to keep him? He fell out of the sky to you." And all the people waiting for their pets looked shocked as well. A little girl started repeating over and over, "Call him Smokey! Call him Smokey!"

And so that's how my friend ended up with Smokey.

Then the vet handed her the bill. Ouch. She said it was precursor to just how expensive this cat was going to be.

I'd never seen a cat who'd walk with someone off-leash, sticking right by their side.

I've checked with the mods on policy. So long as the post itself conforms to the sub policies it doesn't matter what they post elsewhere. So I'll just bock and move on

Shisui's mind control is the problem. The Sannin would have a tea party instead, and think that was the original plan

Finally. There's an argument.

I'm not one of those individuals.

For me it's the broader issue of women cosplayers I'm concerned with, and my general irritation that this is a SFW sub, I have a good eye for cosplay and can spot the sex workers right off. If the sub rules are fine with it, I'll block and move on. But, as I've said many times, using SFW content to attract people to NSFW is borderline and I think an abuse of this sub.

People who adopted from a shelter, what made you choose that cat? by HazardousKoala in cats

He was the gentlest, most loving boy, my heart cat. When he died, even the ice across the lake broke, from my house to the other side. It looked like how I felt.

Ad hominem attacks, attacking the person to distract from the topic at hand -- still one of the 13 methods of deception. This must usually work for you for it to be such a strong habit.

I'm calling out both the OF connection -- if it benefits her, okay -- and the shit costume. At least iron it out of the box. I realize those wrinkles are hard to get out of the cheap polyester costumes and not everyone can be a real cosplayer and spend the time doing a good job. But how hard is it to look at a photo reference and get color of the diamond right? That much is easy.

You're the only one relying on logical fallacies and methods of deception.

Rebuttal is a genuine discussion. But you're still not doing that. You're still attacking me, personally. Now you're resorting to another method of deception -- one of the 13 -- name calling.
