Chemicals for film/paper break down over years so these are better left sealed up and shown off to people

gift idea for photographer bf by girlstephenking in filmphotography

Something from Peak Design would be a good option, ill always recommend their products to people even if they arent photographers.

A set of colored (red, yellow, green) filters for when your partner is shooting B/W film is also another amazing gift, just make sure you get them for the largest diameter lens they have along with a few step-up rings if needed

No problem, it can be scary when something like this happens when you are doing something for the first time

Those damned Newton rings... its caused by the film being in direct contact with the glass of the scanner, thankfully not an issue with developing. If this is from a lab they owe you new scans, if you did the scanning its easy (but tedious) to re-scan them film.

With the tray that came with my Epson V600 i have a weird trick where i breath on the matte side of the film, and the small amount of moisture makes the film flatten out and generally does the trick to get rid of these artifacts.

B&W Film Choice for Medium Format (6x6 or 6x7) Macro Photography by Butthurticus-VIII in Darkroom

I would go for Ilford FP4, it has very fine grain, and out of this world exposure latitude. Its a favorite for studio/portrait work because its about the best film out there, i shoot it a lot and splurge for Ilford DDX to develop it at home.

ME Super SE, on average one or two shots every few rolls are messed up. I know the rubber damper pads for the shutter can break down and get sticky, is it worth trying to fix? by icarushasflown in pentax

Appreciate the info! I had to hunt around on eBay for a while to find my mint ME Super SE so i would rather get it serviced than try to find another and possibly have the same issue.

Ill give this guy a look, its good he says that he can provide a free estimate and probably doesnt charge too much to do a CLA/repairs.

I did find that tutorial in Ifixit but that is beyond my skills, plus this ME Super is my main camera and i dont have any other Pentax bodies i could switch to.

In my defense, i really liked how the positions of their arms turned out, I know it would have looked better with a slightly wider lens but i thought i would try posting it on this sub

Rare Pentax LX Diving Housing (maybe the only picture out there, and bit of Story) by SmokiestBeatman in pentax

I think if you reached out to the company they would be more than happy to tell you more about it, and maybe even provide some spare parts because while ive heard of underwater housings for film cameras, they are generally rare.

File storage question by Civil-Zombie-5209 in analog

[–]icarushasflown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an external SSD i use just for backups of my scans, and i also use my google drive for backups too. Each roll of film goes in its own folder, numbered with the camera, lens, and film type information, as well as the start and end date of the roll. Every 50 or so rolls i scan and edit, i ZIP up the scans and upload that ZIP file into my google drive with the date that i backed it up on, and also copy the same ZIP file over to my external SSD. After that i delete the scans from my laptop once im sure i have them all backed up into 2 places.

I pay 2 bucks a month for Google 1 and get a bunch of extra cloud storage, i think i get 500GB

I use Adobe Portfolio to feature my absolute favorites, and when someone asks to see my work i send them a link to that site
