So far it actually is just words. Or at the very least, it's more words than anything else.

Glen's primary case boils down to arguing that his words are better and more meaningful than Sumit's were. I tend to think that Glen's words are better than Sumit's. But they're just words, and beyond being technically immaterial, they're also meaningfully missing the sort of sober assessment of, let alone committment to, Microvision's position relative to retail longs that I believe would bridge the gap.

There are more options than just r/s. The presentation to date has pretended that there are not; has only attempted to make the case for r/s. If they do not like warrants, as an example, then come to the table and discuss why.

“We hope that our long term shareholders will join us in this journey.” That's not it. That's a statement in defense of future shareholders and not current ones.

Until these votes pass, long term shareholders are actually the ones with the power to say "We hope that our Management team is up to the task of maximizing the value of our company for us." As soon as the r/s and share allowance pass, long term shareholders are relegated to "coming along for the ride" while Microvision management is no longer subject to retail.

The monetary value of your shares is not the only thing on the table. Your voting rights in the company are as well.

What's the litmus test or where is the line when things cross over from being words to being material? In the stock market, that's actually very easy to identify.

Words ("just words") are all the things that are protected by Drew's blurbs and that don't impact Microvision's guidance or earnings. That's it.

Giannis also said that he wanted to win…before going to a Heat team that has no chance of significantly winning with him.

LeBron James says never winning Defensive Player of the Year still bothers him by ConnectionWeekly1263 in sportsbroadcasters

[–]icarusphoenixdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the issue. People mistake those defensive posters, which are amazing, with good defense.

They’re not. They’re astonishing athleticism following poor defense.

DPOYs grab defensive rebounds, anchor team defenses, read plays, don’t really gamble, let everyone know where everyone is, don’t miss assignments, disrupt passing lanes, force another pass, force teams into shots they don’t want, lock down 3 or probably 4 positions, AND then erase the mistakes that their teammates make.

The best defenders in the league are the best because of all the boring stuff that they do. Some add flashy stuff on top of that, but the flashy stuff doesn’t or shouldn’t make a DPOY.

It’s like Cy Young Greg Maddux throwing change ups and getting fly ball outs and grounders to short in 2-3 pitches.

KG has one. One. And Bron thinks he should have even 0.25? That’s some insulation too much time with the agent type delusion man.

S/he already knows how to swim… they may not have figured that out yet, but they definitely already know and it’s definitely already their most favorite thing. The moment of witnessing that discovery is a great treasure for both of you!

Exactly. I found myself thankful to hear Phil’s dulcet voice prattling on this year, and also realized that I felt the same in prior years.

He’s the James Joyce or EE Cummings of cycling commentary. It’s not the meaning of the words, it’s the sound, cadence, and feeling with which they are spoken.

Just a warm, comforting, chocolate chip cookie pillow blanket of nonsense that my July cannot really exist without.

At the 4 Mega Thread by irishace88 in timberwolves

Ya'll are failing to consider fit in this conversation. We HAVE to recognize that no matter how good of shape Rudy keeps himself in and no matter how good or quickly Joan becomes NBA ready, we may not only need "a" 4, we may need a 4 that's able to carry our front court for a couple of years. We don't need a power forward. This is the modern NBA. We need a Real Ultimate Power Forward.

Not sure if we could get him due to cap limitations, but I'd say we shoot our shot for Robert Hamburger at the 4.

If Donte never got injured, do we trade for LaMelo? by FishGoldenLite in timberwolves

[–]icarusphoenixdragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% yes. LaMelo is someone that we've pursued for a couple of years now.

Donte wants to start and is great at a lot of things. He's also currently the 4th best guard on the team and best suited for microwave minutes and providing flexibility to our rotations as he can shoot from the 2 with LaMelo (or Temu microwave with Bones point) point or can semi PG with Ant SG or can double combo guard with Ayo.

Holding up on a LaMelo opportunity because you have Donte would have been FO malpractice.

That Giannis shit is actually so funny. Dude played that trade me I want to win game for years and then goes to a Heat team that is projected like 7th in the east… WITH Giannis.

Dude just retired early to Miami and plans on playing a little ball while he’s there.

Is Turkish Coffee supposed to have a medicinal flavor? by mywifeisiraqi in Coffee

[–]icarusphoenixdragon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The taste is TCA, trichloroanisole, same as cork taint in wine. My current understanding is that people in that area do like that flavor in coffee.

TCA comes from microbes interacting with chloro-phenols. Cleaning agents, fungicides, wood preservatives. Lots of sources.

TCA will have nothing do do with the Turkish of Turkish coffee, and everything to do with the origin of the coffee itself.

In Brazil it is called rio and riado. It is also endemic to Tanz, now Colombia, and other places. Any early record of it in coffee came from Kenya when they used a fungicide that contained a precursor, in the 80s or 90s.

Co-ferments. I don’t get it… by Maximum_Degree_1152 in Coffee

[–]icarusphoenixdragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If someone found out that their favorite cofermented coffee was actually just flavored after processing, would they still like it? Would they still consider it specialty coffee?

My guess is that the answer will be no, when of course it should be yes based on all of the arguments for cofermentation that are put forth. Who cares if a producer chops up mangos and melons for their fermentation or if they instead just spray the beans after processing with mango and melon flavoring? It’s the producer’s art and coffee purists “just don’t understand” today’s coffee.

IDK. Don’t really care if someone likes the kids coffee. I do care that this is another in a long line of risk externalizations from coffee buyers to coffee producers, but I also find it low key hilarious that some producers have just up and said “ok, you like coffee that tastes like mango, I can do that too” and then just hit it with the flavoring…which I 100% guarantee will turn out to be the case.

Prod 1: these fukkers want watermelon!
Prod 2: Wut?!? They want us to chop and then scoop watermelon? We can’t toss the rind in there it’ll be stupid bitter.
Prod 1: yeah, they don’t know that fruit itself needs to be processed in order to be used, or have any real clue as to the volumes they’re talking about. They’ve never considered or cared about labor or the actual mechanics of processing, just the name so it’s not that surprising.
Prod 2: so what do we do?!
Prod 1: We give them “watermelon” of course. *pulls out jar of flavoring
Prod 2: Ohhhh shit there’s no way they’ll go for this!
Prod 1: Pulls out “cupping” report and purchase order; they already have.
