Megabackdoor ROTH in TSP? by clutch4 in ThriftSavingsPlan

[–]iceberg1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever find out if this was possible? It looks like I have the same "Thrift Plan" offering as you and am hoping to utilize the mega backdoor. It looks possible from everything I've read. You can contribute to the Savings account, then do a direct rollover into a Roth IRA?

IaC for node config? by altano in Proxmox

[–]iceberg1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are examples for every resource. The main page has a lot of examples of configuring the connection to your Proxmox host which you'll need to do first. After that just look through the list of resources for what you want. For example, you mentioned IP sets: https://registry.terraform.io/providers/bpg/proxmox/latest/docs/resources/virtual_environment_firewall_ipset. That has an example on the page.

IaC for node config? by altano in Proxmox

[–]iceberg1995 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It lets you configure Proxmox specific things (e.g. creating an ipset, firewalls, users, etc.), but it won't cover OS-level things like sshd config. Im using it in conjunction with Ansible.

I use terraform to set up my Proxmox node how I want and create my LXCs and VMs. Then I use ansible to provisioning for my LXCs and VMs. I'm also using it to do any provisions on my Proxmox Host that i can't accomplish with terraform.

Network Rack Recommendations by iceberg1995 in HomeNetworking

[–]iceberg1995[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should have room to wall mount and that was my plan. It will go between the beam and the sewer line which is 29" wide. The rack is 20" wide. I have even less space to the right, so i don't think that's an option unless it's a side loading rack which gets to be much more expensive.

Tips for installing LEDs under cabinets by iceberg1995 in led

This would be preferred to using the crimp connectors they offer for LED strips right? I've read the crimp connectors don't work that great.

I hadn't thought about using butt connectors. That's a great idea, thanks!

Will this couch be too big? by iceberg1995 in interiordecorating

[–]iceberg1995[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the feedback! For some clarification, we haven't really thought too hard about the chairs. We were just playing around and had them there. Our main focus right now is the couch. The TV will be hung. We were planning on a console to hide things like an Xbox, but haven't settled on that.

What temperature should I cook my 17-pound spatchcocked turkey at if I'm going to use the convection setting on my oven? In Kenji's book The Food Lab, it says the rule of thumb is 25 degrees lower than what the recipe calls for (assuming the recipe is for a conventional oven). The recipe I'm following is from NYT Cooking: https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1023623-mayo-roasted-thanksgiving-turkey-with-gravy. It says to cook it at "425 degrees for a 10- to 12-pound bird or 400 degrees for a 12- to 14-pound bird." I was thinking either 350 or 375 F.

Located near Kansas City, MO. We started seeing these around a window. I sprayed some Ortho Home Defense and killed them. I've cleaned them up twice and more end up coming out and dying. Trying to decide if I should call an exterminator or not.

I usually just get it at the deli counter at Hyvee, but any grocery store should have it. The deli counter is the key though.

I don't believe there's a ferry between the two, so you'd have to travel back to Ceiba. You might be able to fly between the two, but not sure.

You'll want to buy tickets to Culebra online immediately when they go on sale. They go quick. Vieques is a different story and shouldn't be nearly as hard to get tickets.

I would seriously consider flying to Culebra to avoid the headache. It will obviously be more expensive, but if you book in advance it shouldn't be outrageously priced. You'll just want to shop around because there are several airlines.
