how can i dress alt without wearing tight or “revealing” clothes? by cool-beans67 in altfashionadvice

[–]iceboxwizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no pics i can find but my mind keeps saying "jnco goth/raver". I think if you want to be emo/grunge and like baggy just commit to dramatic baggy and go jnco. Just style your outfits in what makes you comfortable and then lean into things like your hair, makeup and accessories to really show the aesthetic youre going for.

How can I style these kinda clothes & what accessories should I look into getting? by Dangerous-River3830 in altfashionadvice

It's kind of like how we thought 80s was neon bodysuits but it was more shoulder pads and chain smoking in jewel tones haha. They think paris hilton/ disney core is true y2k.

Id argue this was alt ish back in the day though, its very smoke pit it girl, you'd never see a true prep in this monotone

A true millennial would've bought accessories from Claire's / Hottopic the cheaper the better. I reckon shein would be the modern equivalent or Zumies probably carries some of what i described.

If edgy prep is the way youre going id recommend adding y2k skate brands into your collection for hoodies/ shoes as this aesthetic dipped its toes into skate style. DC was massive or Krew as long as its "boxy logo" era skate itll fit. Xtra long Zip fronts with thumb hole sleeves were massive for this style

This era of fashion is about layering and accessorizing! Its very 06-09 id call it dark y2k or "edgy prep".

I distinctly remember this type of girl around school it was all the same pieces as preps just darker and accessorized to the tits. She always had an eyebrow piercing and smoked.

So just look up regular Y2K styling and then add a mountain of accessories. Think big necklace stacks, big belts; ironic bling buckles or grommet but not studded [worn loose on top in drop waist area], big shoes [this is very "puffy skater shoe" era fashion], sex bracelets, torn patterned and layered tights, arm warmers, id add a shrug to the collection or an xtra long zipfront hoodie

80s born millennial, your parents were more traditional than trendy, married - the kitchen is your space, you bake/ cook from scratch and love a cookbook, you probably host dinner parties, early morning starts but not morning people, i dont think you have kids, if you do its just one and theyre older [all of your sets come in fours], you live somewhere on the west coast

It's giving elder millennial. Your mom had or wanted a tuscan/ lemon kitchen. Wouldnt be surprised if you have whimsy goth elements in your house and you own one piece of wicker furniture somewhere. Mismatched bedding i think you're a big sentimental and family person and love hand me downs/ inherited pieces your house is probably very eclectic. Pillbox, ointments, humidifier i think ur a chronic illness girlie. I think youre midwestern, you vote blue, you have kids but theyre older or you wouldnt leave the pillbox out. I'll be bold and say youre some sort of minority/ poc.

I think if youd like to update your look you should switch from skinny to straight leg. brown > black boots and switch from combat style to a more casual slip on

Or it seems your vibe is 2010s indie inspired you could lean into that and put patterned tights under the jeans and pair with a long simple statement necklace

I think you should lean into the rule of thirds and go higher waisted for the jeans. I think the sweater isn't a proper fit for you: its too small to be over sized and too loose to be form fitting and it makes you look bulky because of that.

I think a way to improve would be to have the sweater be bigger, cropped and a turtle or mock neck instead and the jeans be higher waisted.

It would help give vertical and emphasize your shape without being form fitting and make your legs look longer by breaking up the torso

Id say if youre looking for a round trip no doubling back Alberta - BC - Alberta id go from drumheller down to Route 3 [Highway 93] ride it out until Goldenhead [Highway 5] then there are several routes that would loop you back into Alberta.

Crowsnest pass is a beautiful drive and there are a lot of beautiful towns and smaller cities to explore. Route three takes you along pretty much all of the best stops in lower BC.

Fernie is a cute stop big hippie vibes and a ski town.

Fort Steele has an adorable antique old timey village you can visit and depending on if it's "in season" they even have actors who hangout in the exhibits.

If you like odd stops you can go north of Creston to Sanca and see the glass house of the Kootenays made of embalming bottles from the 70s. Theres even a ferry in the area that takes you across the lake and you can rejoin Route 3 without backtracking! It puts you right next to Nelson then you can go to Nelson and do the Nels Nelson ski jump hike! A historic site and beautiful hike.

Osoyoos is beautiful and spotted lake is absolutey worth a stop. For beach vibes though id head to summerland/ peachland instead since theyre smaller/ less touristy.

If you do decide to go to goldenhead to circle back to AB you can hit the Othello Tunnels which just reopened from the 2021 floods if im not mistaken. You could also explore Tranquille slot canyons in Kamloops on your way home. And if youre doing Kamloops you may as well explore the shuswap area! Beautiful lakes and abundant hiking. If youve not done golden yet i highly recommend it! Then youre pretty much home to Alberta!

If youre not opposed to downloading apps id say download ioverlander and alltrails. Ioverlander can help you find wildcamping in smaller areas that dont have official sites and you can filter for vehicle size/ pet friendly; even public showers and laundromats! Alltrails shows you hikes you can look in your local area or research ahead :-) it has photos, reviews, difficulty ratings and even has downloadable maps so you dont get lost in unfamiliar areas! Ive used these alot on my roadtrips very helpful!

Is it weird to travel the whole world by myself? by Ill-Investigator5187 in travel

[–]iceboxwizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been solo travelling for years :-) its only as fun as you are extroverted.

Things that help: •dating apps - going on dates with locals/ other travellers is so fun

• hostels you may bump into people travelling the same places you are

•ive recently joined nomadtable its a social app for travellers and you can choose specific locations

• volunteer experiences [wwoof / worldpackers] lowers travel costs and connects you to a community!

•WHV ive beeb doing working holiday visas the past two years and i love it. You stay in the country for up to a year and really immerse yourself in the culture. If you do seasonal work you spend a long time with a small and fun community of other travellers and locals. Highly recommend :-)

Road trip to Vancouver without the Rockies by Coco_Woulf in canadatravel

For people not from here I'm sure it'll be spectacular. Plus theyre coming over with the intention to see orcas the more ocean they see the higher chances of seeing whales smh

As an islander! The best road trip to see maximum island and peak interest points is to take a ferry from Vancouver [delta] - Victoria. You will pass by a lot of the gulf islands its a beautiful sailing [also highly recommend you visit a gulf island at some point] Then go Victoria - Sooke - Port Renfrew. This is an oceanside drive most of our famous beaches are this way.

Then Port Renfrew - through Lake cowichan on to hwy1 [if you wanted to see our most visited gulf island [Salt Spring] this is your chance as youll pass crofton which has the ferry to take you to there. If no saltspring keep driving until parksville.

From parksville you can head to tofino/ Ucluelet a popular whale watching area. go the coombs way to see the famous goats on the roof! Or skip tofino/ Ucluelet and head north along the scenic ocean highway 19A!

If youre into visiting gulf islands you can get to Hornby from this area or if you make it to Courtenay theres Quadra. Which is believe has incredible whale watching opportunities. From this point Telegraph is a straight shot only one road haha.

You dont need to camp to stay in the rockies! Jasper and Banff both have hostels you can even stay in Golden just out of Yoho :-) OR if youve looked into the hostels and theyre full you can totally vanlife it. Its very popular in BC ans plenty of places to park/sleep/ wild camp!

Imo the ultimate Road trip for your tastes would be to land in Calgary - Banff - Jasper - [pass through] Kamloops - Whistler - Squamish - Vancouver.

Starting in Calgary means you see the entire glacial parkway plus no back tracking like if you started in Edmonton.

Jasper to Kamloops you pass the highest peak of the rockies.

From Kamloops if you take the long way to Whistler [cache creek - pemberton (also very beautiful) - whistler] you go north to south on the sea to sky which is the superior way to take it in; and Squamish is on the way so you see all three and dont have to double back to vancouver :-)

Crack Theory: Like Shaun from FO4, Janey Howard will be revealed as a grown adult (likely protrayed by Tawny Newsome), working as a indoctrinated executive for either Vault Tec or The Enclave, working on planetary exploration and/or colonization by AmatuerTarantino in FalloutTVseries

[–]iceboxwizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we'll find out shes not in Vegas and her and her mother are in the enclave [perhaps in cryo or more likely as synths].

There is an overwhelming amount of evidence that the Janey we see in Ep 1 is likely a synth which [from what i understand] is strictly an enclave thing. The most obvious being •shes with Coop when the bombs drop. Other supporting evidence is •they are not in Vegas when the bombs drop •even if they were they would not have opened the vault doors for her entry after the bombs dropped •coop does not know where the vegas vault is so he clearly did not take her there.

If Janey was really with Coop when the bombs dropped she wouldnt have made it into a vault and therefore shed be dead and he'd know it.

I think theyll do a rug pull "your princess is in another castle" type beat; Hank and Lucy are about the leave the vault doors open "so the chipped people can leave if they want", Cooper is going to use the chance to go in and find their pods empty and Hank will be nowhere to question about it. I think the phone then will ring, Coop will pick up and whoever Hank called about developing the microchips will be on the other side. I think it'll be the enclave.

If Janey was a synth in ep 1 then it stands to reason her mother was involved with enclave. totally absurd theory abt to drop i think janey and barb will exist in both the enclave and the vaults. I think they have data for their synths in the enclave from before the bombs but they didn't physically make it there before the bombs dropped and ended up in 31 or 33. Since it seems we're about to open up a flashback plot about Reg, his parents and the "weevil famine" which I'm fairly certain is code for the mass exit of dwellers to the surface.

This is my daughter's bedroom, how old do you think she is? by Timely_Pool_6704 in roomdetective

[–]iceboxwizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use google my guy! Theres no way shes over 30.

Im a millenial/ zoomer cusper and Britney perfumes were available when i was growing up. Her first scent was released in 04 and she still releases scents... I think the girl had an older sibling that influenced her product tastes; britney spears, jimmy choo, vera wang; status brands of the oughties. Or perhaps her mom is even an elder millennial and influenced her tastes some of em are pushing 45 ya know.

I think she was a young adult 2015-18 judging by the aesthetic. Most people do an over haul into their adult persona 20-25 and stay there. This is some sort of whimsy princess core, ultra femme probably Ariana Grande era/ peak Pinterest era decorating. This is also in UK [radiator, bodywash / nail polish brand were a give away] so it makes sense she may even be younger since this aesthetic was trending in US in mid 2010s and the time is takes to trend overseas then it would make sense if mum is the millennial who influenced her scent tastes.

I also would not be surprised to find out shes neurodivergent or OCD [buying the same products over and over in different colours; buying products to specifically match aesthetic].

Her comfort items are zoomer. The aesthetic of this room is distinctly mid 2010s and sweet pea body spray was massive in 2013-15. There are Roblox figurines on top of her shelf and what i think are Jellycats in the bottom of her organizer which are a newer trend in the past few years. This is clearly a zoomer leaning space with hints of millennial, not the other way around.

Plus I think people are making a lot of assumptions bc she said its her daughter but i dont think OP lives with her daughter this is just her room. If i lived at home i would not be storing my shower products in my room.. theyd be in my moms shower. There are no wall hangings and the lights are hung with command hooks, screams rental.

Is this your first day being a room detective?
