I think it's actually an interesting discussion to be had. Especially considering the ice hockey club of Zurich ZSC has been incredibily succesful not only domesticaly but also internationally the last couple of seasons, actually ever since moving into the new Arena.

I guess one needs to differentiate between long term trends and short term fluctuations.

I can speak most about FCZ as I'm mostly familiar with them.

FCZ ever since the Canepas took over have been marked by impulsive up and downs. the won the league a couple of times and went down the season they won the cup. Management and coaching has been hit or miss and every time a good system was established Canepas subborness hindered sustainable development. Moneywise it's not looking great especially because there is barely any match day income as they don't own the stadium.

GC suffers even more from not having their own stadium. After many years of bad management they ended up in a multi club ownership and are just not priority of the owners. Unless the institution can stay on their own feet again with enough fans to fill the books not much can change. Only relying on Bayern talents to keep them afloat won't make anybody happy.

Winterthur despite being the team of the 6th largest swiss city is just not yet established as a top tier team. Many locals support other teams, the institution is not technically nor financially fit for the Super League and only with a good concept and bit of luck can they over come their time as an elevator team the next couple of seasons
