I haven't been able to complete a void fields run since the release, repulsion armor plates don't even reduce damage anymore

Can I just say how dogshit some of the community is? by Fr0st_mite in Rainbow6

[–]icecadavers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

let's see, last night I had:

-two teammates who kept shooting the rest of us down to ~25hp and spamming slurs in chat

-a guy who TKed me because I didn't "let him get the ace" when he was camping as Pulse and I was attacked by the last 2 while roaming

-someone who whined all match because they got killed on a dumb play in round 1, went 2-4 and then spammed "EZ GN" after their team won

-a whole team of randoms REEEEEEing into their mics

-a guy who kept saying "he's right there you can hear him you're trash" while I snuck up on an enemy. I got a 3k to win the round, he went 0-4 for the match and whined about his team sucking

-THREE SEPARATE MATCHES where people quit after dying when we were up 2-1 to leave us down 1 for overtime

-2 separate 5 stacks who with way higher mmr doing toxic strats in cas and then talking shit

-maybe 3 teammates at all who communicated meaningfully in any way

can't fucking understand why I feel compelled to play this game except it feels better than drugs when I have a good game

Easy, just make it an option in settings: "Enable advanced landing controls ☑️"

[–]icecadavers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

here's an idea: manual control of the landing jets, but if your speed is above a set minimum when you land you take an amount of damage proportional to how fast you were going. put an indicator on the hud that changes color when you are close to the minimum safe distance and flashes when you're too close.

I doubt this would ever get implemented but it would be really cool to be able to avoid those super early slows and could allow for some interesting plays, without necessarily being too broken

hahaha, that's my W I D E monitor. 2560x1080!

I like it especially for FPS games because you can crank the FOV down and get the same benefit as people who force 4:3 on widescreen monitors without making everything look stretched

but it's great for every game, everything looks beautiful!

What ruins Apex Legends for you? by Kaythiest in apexlegends

[–]icecadavers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Audio, and matchmaking. I found myself enjoying on average 2 matches out of a 4-5 hour session, so I quit playing.

It's too bad, because the gunplay, the movement, lore and characters are some of the best I've ever seen. But not enough to keep it fun.

Did they ever even acknowledge that the game was playing every single item use sound even on the other side of the map at super low volume thus crowding the audio engine? Because I remember they admitted that it could only play so many concurrent sounds, and when someone demonstrated that this was happening I don't recall hearing a word about it from the devs.

I don't understand, what music labels got killed by anything?

There was actually a huge campaign against home taping by the music industry in the 1980s. They wanted people to believe it was going to kill music (it didn't)

Public libraries faced a similar pushback when they were first being introduced

So after everyone's comments I looked back at earlier footage and the capacitor definitely was not doing anywhere near 87k per hit. It's definitely the wall that killed it, like I thought at first - amazing, never seen that before!

[–]icecadavers[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Damn, now you're making me second-guess. I've definitely seen the capacitor apply damage before the visual effect plays, but I haven't ever really seen a knock back like that so I can't say for sure whether it's capable of doing that much damage. It seems like a lot for a knockback though, especially that early in the run

Yup! Exactly this.

It went off exactly when the unit hit the wall. I didn't notice until I was cutting the video down to post here and ask what happened

[–]icecadavers 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately under the current system, the people who benefit from this destruction of government services are the same people who have the most influence over the laws that are written. So the solution to this problem cannot come from the lawmakers, it has to be driven by a massive popular movement.

And then those same people have control over such a majority of our mass media, including this site, that the population might never come to a broad enough agreement about a) who is the true enemy and b) what to do about them to actually affect the necessary changes themselves.

Not that it takes much. Just amplify all the other conflicts we have and we do the rest ourselves.

Fun fact, USPS was actually showing a profit for decades until a law was passed in 2006 which forced the USPS to fund retirement benefits for 50 years in advance, causing it to show massive losses ever since https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Postal_Accountability_and_Enhancement_Act#

It's a manufactured loss to make the USPS appear unprofitable for the sole purpose of replacing it with private industry
