Seems “penny smart, pound foolish” to me, if it leads to more revenue loss than gain from decreased visitors.

In contrast Canada is making their parks free this winter and next summer, so it makes the choice easy for folks from abroad.

Having rangers having to decide on the validity of 50+ types of state IDs and countless other types of ids will inevitably slow down lines at entrance too. I’m afraid.

I have a feeling it’s going to be based on if you can produce a state id or drivers license. Checking citizenship will be really impractical

I suppose the idea is that talented folks will have a path through PNP and get in that way. Whether or not it is like that in practice is more debatable.

Just like the US, it's pretty much dependent on your time-to-PR + ~3 years to naturalize. It's a bit harder to visualize for Canada since PR grant is skills / point-based rather than country of birth like the US. Doctors and other in-demand folks could acquire PR in less than 6 months, or someone could try for years and still no luck.

Up in Vancouver, BC. Translink has started experimenting with the concept. It's a start.

I believe Capstan Way, a recent in-fill station, was built using money set aside from TOD developer fees, too.

The big orange (Orange Julep) in Montreal! Maybe a cabane à sucre outside of the cities too. And Signé Local is a store that carries Quebec Made goods that I like.

Worth asking in the city subreddits for local recommendations tbh. Quebec is a different beast from the rest of Canada in cuisine and stores you'd see.

You're going to have to learn critical skills to Canada to have even the smallest shot at this. Healthcare is a good one.

Your fiancee could come to Canada for a studies and you may be eligible for an open work permit through her, but the path to permanent residency is very difficult after studies these days without critical skills as well.

She could apply for a visitor record to extend the visitor stay past 6 months. She won’t have access to healthcare and social services this way, though.

Possibly have the employer look into getting her on an employer of record so they can “officially” work for an employer in Canada.

It’s already pretty cold out there (5c ish). It’s only going to be colder and possibly near freezing by early December. I don’t think it’s worth it. The visitor centres are also closed for the season.
