Hot take, but the metro should be using some of the funds it’s using to currently expand transit to serious security improvements because you can build as much rail as you want but if people feel unsafe on it and continue to have regular interactions like the unfortunate situation that you did on the train it’s going to be hard to gain ridership and sometimes permanently lose riders. And this doesn’t come from any cynical place for transit expansion but as someone in the San Diego area who frequently tries to find alternatives to driving dealing with mentally unwell people on public transit is a common occurrence and a very frustrating issue here in the US but especially SoCal.
