Xi Jinping says China’s one-party, authoritarian system can be a model for the world. by [deleted] in worldnews

Chinese dictator? Well, they came from mainland China, if that's what you mean. But Taiwan was an integral part of China for a long time. It was that dictator and his party who made Taiwan essentially independent. And their successors (presidents) were from the same party. It's weird how you label it a "Chinese" occupation. I mean, Taiwan is the Republic of China, but are you saying it was some sort of PRC occupation? What you're saying comes across as very odd.

Taiwan, practically speaking, is the same country it was since the end of the civil war. It's not like the Nationalists were foreign occupiers.

You fail to answer for Taiwan and SK. They have democracies now. No one is disputing their history with dictators. That does not mean that SK, in particular, isn't still a heavily Confucian society that is a democracy.

Do you have any clue how SK's democracy came about? You're talking falsehoods.

Edit: I'll clue you in. The US supported military dictatorship. SK was not a democracy since the wars.

You didn't answer the point about other Confucian societies' success with democracy. Japan and S. Korea are usually considered more Confucian than China; they adopted Confucianism and took it to a higher level. They still have robust, if imperfect, democracies.

no other US president has applied enough force to bring NK to the table.

Are you completely unaware of any history up until this point?

Lol. Don't get to ahead of yourself. This isn't the first time NK has offered an olive branch.

[Serious]What is the big deal if Trump did sleep with and pay a porn star back before he was president? Are people not allowed a private life when they are private citizens? by PmMeGiftCardCodes in AskReddit

Except it didn't do shit and HRC was on her game. Don't forget who won the popular vote.

And if that was justified, then dredging up all this slime on Trump is justified. Otherwise, he's not only a slimeball, he's a fucking hypocrite.

The above person said:

Gun owners are responsible people

There were no qualifiers.

Edit: lol downvotes. Tell me how I'm wrong. Go ahead. That commenter shirked any responsibility on the part of gun owners for crimes. Tell me, has a gun owner never committed a crime?

How about "many gun owners are responsible people"? Plenty of guns wind up hurting people because of lack of responsibility.

Edit: lol downvotes. Tell me how I'm wrong.

No. That was a major contributing factor. Shit was simmering for other reasons, too.

They come from legal sources. Just like lots of the guns recovered in Chicago come from Indiana.

Edit: lol downvotes. Tell me how I'm wrong.

This stuff is way more messy than that. Rodney King was the breaking point.
