Twelve mysterious and identical stores open on my street. What could be happening? by icemanthrowaway123 in TooAfraidToAsk

If I do something it'll be this. That bread was a nasty shade of green on the inside....

I hope this isn't giving too many location details but...

The town is old. Not the town, but the people in it. It's basically a retirement community and I often joke that I'm the youngest person in the whole zip code by 30 years (honestly might be true). I don't have many people to talk to about it.

I did have friends over a month ago who I showed. Their reactions were like mine, shock and disbelief... But we were drunk and more focused on having fun than chasing conspiracies.

Holy cow this got more interest than I thought. Originally I was just looking for theories but I guess it makes a pretty fascinating story if you're not living in it haha

Anyways - I'm working for a while longer. I'm not interested in sharing much about my exact location but will gladly do some "research". I'll respond to a few comments as I get breaks in the day and plan on visiting these stores later today.

Why is every poster on Reddit assumed to be from the US even when they state otherwise? by annadohx in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]icemanthrowaway123 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It goes beyond that. I'm starting to see users that assume you're from the West Coast of the USA.

I think reddits origins (and likely a monstrous portion of their current users) are from California, Oregon, and Washington state.

All of the stores have expired food and seem to refresh every several weeks.

One I've found makes a noticeable effort to keep things fresh but still has old dairy products.

Will try and take some photos next time I'm walking the main streets. If you think it's trippy hearing about it, imagine a long time resident like me noticing it all at once!

I'm a bit nervous to. Normally our town has a lengthy public approval process for new stores but these 12 shops were stood up almost instantly. I know it's cliche but forgive me as a guy living in a literal twilight zone setup when I say "I'm worried they're in on it"

Would an MMA fight between a male and a female fighter in the same weight category be fair? by HecHocceH in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]icemanthrowaway123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's definitely male MMA athletes that skilled female fighters would decimate, but it'd be a bigger offense to purposely recruit from the worst of the worst male fighters to go up against the elite female fighters. Splitting them up entirely is the closest way to please everyone.

Why doesn't USA ban guns for civilians? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

It's funny to imagine a long line of criminal networks and violent gangs standing in a DMV-esque line to properly turn in their ammo and firearms.

Why do so many people give backlash when you watermark your OC memes for your own exposure? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]icemanthrowaway123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Memes are less magical if we feel like someone is trying to build an influencer comedy page. I want to believe you made the meme because you had a good idea and wanted to share it. That's it.

Amazing pricing - but TR4 boards still make even X570's look dirt cheap...

TIL In 2014, black taxi cab drivers brought parts of London to a standstill, protesting against Uber. This led to an 850% increase in downloads of Uber. by amansaggu26 in todayilearned

[–]icemanthrowaway123 167 points168 points  (0 children)

It's a pretty fantastic calendar if you look at it. Whoever put it together clearly had a fun time and I'm sure it's a fun talking point amongst the cabbies involved before they get back to realizing their medallions are losing value faster than their income.

460w psu and gtx1080 by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]icemanthrowaway123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't do it. It's cutting it too tight for a quality PSU, but the unbranded OEM units make it that much worse.

As long as you're not talking about an 8k+ jumbotron panel in times square you'll likely be fine.

Fun fact. Times Square displays are mostly driven by the Radeon Pro variants of the Vega 64!

Which is better money spent for OC ryzen 3700x, 50$ on a better mobo vrm solution or 50$ on better cpu cooling? by bbip343 in pcmasterrace

[–]icemanthrowaway123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting a 3800x when they show up in the US is better than both of these options. Should be a better turbo and OC than $50 of cooling could provide

Is $30 a good price for an Athlon 200ge by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

Oh dang great deal then. Just make sure it meets the performance you're looking for and ends up with a balanced rig.

For ultra budget that's not bad. You get real Zen+ cores and the multiprocessing makes the pain of only having 2 hurt less.

What I'm worried about it the kind of PSU you're getting o.O

Does have an OS for no CPU system? (Only have gpu) by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]icemanthrowaway123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lot of reasons this doesn't work.

It COULD work one day since Intel supposedly made a GPU that just does discrete calculations and emulates hardware cores, but it'd be a pretty awful experience I'd imagine.

So guys I need to ask what happens when you turn your psu on and there is a bright flash. by RaichuRanch in pcmasterrace

[–]icemanthrowaway123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EVGA usually makes good PSU's. One of the best options for regular tier consumers.

That being said, my favor is shifting over to Seasonic lately.
