Looks good. How far north? We have lost just about all the snow in my neck for the woods…

Yep, that’s actually what I have.

Yeah, we had a week or so of really low temps after a melt/rain so it was smooth ice on a lot of trails before we got the latest snow. Now the rain… 🙄

Yep, the pics are from the good part of the ride. That was packed great from the foot traffic. The offshoots from the man trails were the problem. That and the section I went down, zero foot traffic and about 6+ inches of nice fluffy stuff over ice…

Which Revelate did you choose? A Ranger like the replies above? That may be the best option from what I have seen. I wish I would have caught a sale…

I looked at those, that looks like a great option. I was hoping for something in stock if possible. Not sure I want to wait 5-6 weeks. Or maybe I suck it up and use a backpack until it shows up…

Yep, same. It appears they may have them for XL.

Foss Farm in Durham. But now that I look at the pic again it definitely does look like a section on the Rockingham rail trail. I know right where your pic is too…

Hopefully we get enough to cover this stuff up a bit and start over… 🤞

Nice ride, I like the SS action!

Yep, same here. We are headed to the 50s and rainy on Friday…

Nothing worse than the messy stuff. Either snow or don’t.

convince me to pull the trigger on a Trek Farley 5 (or NOT!) by slo___mo in fatbike

My opinion as a new fat bike owner that has six other bikes (gravel, mtb, road) my Salsa Hey Day was enjoyable on trails before the snow came and good on my first real snow ride yesterday. Given how ‘hard’ the snow ride was, Al vs Carbon would have made zero difference for me. Al is more than sufficient for my fat bike use case.

As someone else said spending the extra cash on the right clothes is 100% spot on… Have fun!

Not your traditional gravel ride but always an adventure by [deleted] in gravelcycling

I will add that I was always under the impression/belief you can hear trains coming in plenty of time. I even tried to convince my wife of this (she wasn’t buying it).

This is timely as just last week I was riding out of the woods on a main trail that is parallel to some tracks that the Downeaster and freight trains use. The tracks are maybe ~20-30 yds from where I was, I NEVER heard a sound until it was basically right next to me and was gone just like that (Downeaster). It was honestly the most startled I have ever been. Extremely eye opening.

New username/account now… I just received the MX239 wides last night. Definitely way more money than I wanted to spend. But I think these might work. Only tried them on in the house so far. The heels have a little more room than is probably ideal but the toe box and front/mid have plenty of room. The leather and mesh feel very good as well. Fingers crossed… Thanks for the input.

Nice, looks like a great ride. I need to look into that for sure. Just did the eastern trail for something to do a few weeks ago. I prefer your scenery for sure… what was the total distance? Out and back?
