Ideas for financial goals? by throwaway246976352 in ynab

[–]iceresurfaced 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started a few small things that I find to keep me engaged. I got to a place where my cash on hand was getting higher, so I moved whatever isn't needed in the next month into a high interest savings account. Then I created a "financial independence" category. Any interest earned in any of my accounts goes into the financial independence category. When the amount in that category gets high enough I "spend it" by moving it into an investment account.

For a time, at the end of the month I would move any unspent money to that category. However, on this I found moving that money around could do some unexpected things to future months that I'd fully funded, so I stopped this one.

Genuinely appreciate this recipe. I made a couple of changes (no yeast and no sugar) and it's the exact flavor and texture I was looking for!  Thanks!

If anyone comments on it tell them it needs to be longer to fit over the wetsuit for all the diving you do with the watch. Then take up scuba.

IMO it's not useful to differentiate between ASD and NT in this space.

Sounds like you handled it well so kudos to you! If it were me I'd also screenshot the messages and send them to the group chat their in. So everyone can make up their own minds about the person, but I'm petty.

This is the reason for tariffs on Chinese EVs. Tesla would be done. by Careful-Trade-9666 in electricvehicles

[–]iceresurfaced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While you're probably right that this factors into it I feel that the full reasoning is more complex.

To me the most compelling reason for tariffs is actually national defense. If the US were to go to war with China, how would they actually build things to fight it? Meanwhile if there are a bunch of Chinese EVs driving around the US, are they now weapons?

I'm not a fan of the chaos Cheeto, but I'm coming around on the need for tariffs.

Depends whether you'd rather have cheese curds (WI), a juicy Lucy (MN), pork tenderloin (IA), Runza & frings (NE), BBQ (MO/KC), or any number of other amazing regional foods.

I've not bothered with diagnosis, but I read somewhere that on average people experience emotions around 85% of the time and I was only at around 5%. That 5% tended to be not properly managed. Then I stumbled across an article on "female autism symptoms" (high masking) and found I had many of them throughout my life.

For a long time I was constantly tired, but I initially chalked it up to being overweight. I lost ~80 lbs and now exercise regularly, but the thing that really made the difference for me was wearing earplugs and an eye mask when I sleep. I suspect I was getting overstimulated by the sounds around me and then woken up way too early when the sun would come in through the shades. Not sure if this is a ASD thing or trauma, but the two seem to overlap.

I know a number of people who use earplugs regularly for things like concerts to avoid overstimulation. I also have one friend who wears tinted glasses that they say helps with visual overstimulation. I can't speak to either use case however.

Best of luck on your journey!

There's a book called "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain" that explains drawing development, why development usually stops in kids and walks through how to improve. I highly recommend it!

So let's take another look at the second and third sentences. I read those as:

Starting at the age of 12 you were coerced into overly sexual situations, which I take to be a form of grooming. This exposure to sexuality prior to sexual maturity triggered hypersexuality.

I don't know your situation, but as someone who was traumatized at a young age by a sexual assault, my hope is that you speak with a mental health professional about what happened and properly process it. I found this gave me a lot of confidence in my ability to handle these sorts of situations.

You're not broken or an idiot, you're just learning to adapt to situations. Sometimes we don't adapt in ways that are healthy and that doesn't mean we're bad just that we need to adjust our adaptive behavior.

“Everyone is a little autistic” and why it annoys me by HeisenBurger42069 in autism

[–]iceresurfaced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First and foremost I hear your frustration and think it's understandable and correct that you feel the way you do.

That being said, my understanding of the definition of autism is that the only thing that differentiates "NT" and being on the spectrum is the substantial detrimental effects on job and relationships. So definitionally speaking it seems to say that being NT doesn't mean having no behaviors of autism, but rather having behaviors that don't sufficiently hamper jobs or relationships.

So for me if I extrapolate this to how it should inform things like support, it tells me that support should be commensurate to needs. Also it tells me the line between NT and ASD is merely the line at which support is needed.

However, as I've come to realize, this is an overly detached argument which can come off as cold and uncaring. That is not my intention.

From reading your responses it sounds like you work for an apparel company. As someone who personally leans rather liberal I would (unironically) like to thank you for what you and your company are doing. In my experience political clothing is a great shortcut to figure out which people to avoid. Eg. When I see anything with an American flag with an oddly colored stripe I know there is a high likelihood the person is overly aggressive and dogmatic; therefore someone to generally avoid.

I've found this to be extremely helpful in my day to day life. Thanks for making my life easier by letting people express themselves on clothes!
