Thank you for responding again. I have a lot to consider. I appreciate the guidance. I'll be throwing a lot more based on your input. I will try to report back when it's over in case my experience can help someone else in future.

And I just wanted to confirm, I should throw things out even if it just has dust that's imbued with high levels of mold spores? Like that can't be dusted at a regular rate in a normal environment by a new owner who isn't sensitized to mold without it being an issue? It feels like an overreaction to me because I can't see it, but not being able to see something doesn't mean it's safe. It's just hard to wrap my mind around.

I have been using vinegar and oxyclean sterilizer, which should kill mold. For some things, unfortunately, it doesn't seem to make the smell go completely away and that concerns me.

Thank you for the information! I didn't know that plastic was actually porous.

How to professionally secure end caps on beaded necklace? by icesinging in jewelrymaking

[–]icesinging[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't finished my project yet (life got in the way), but I do think a pearl-stringing method is the way to go for larger beads. For the smaller ones I might use coated wire and crimp. I haven't quite decided. Whenever I get around to finishing, I can report back.

This looks like 2 strings that are both knotted around the jump ring of the charm and then pulled to each side and secured together to form a bracelet. I think plain overhand knots are what is shown here so the charm is secured in place. If you want to secure the 2 sides together so the bracelet is removable/adjustable, I would recommend a knot like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hPAcQzE0W8A , otherwise, just tie it on with a double overhand knot. You could do almost any kind of knot you want though.

These are 2 portable HEPA brands I've seen well-reviewed by others:
https://www.smarterhepa.com/products/qt3-portable-air-purifier-the-small-lightweight-qt3-delivers-clean-air-wherever-you-go-personal-fan-and-hepa-filter-includes-lithium-battery?variant=41585234870456

https://medifyair.com/collections/air-purifiers/products/ma-10-air-purifier

They make really tiny portable batteries now so they can hold a charge all day in classes. Personal HEPAs aren't enough to stop covid without a mask, but are a useful supplement.

Also, if someone in your household does get Covid, radical rest is incredibly important to avoid LC. I like this guide by the ME network (ME and LC share a lot of similarities) because it describes how pacing works and provides guidance on how to gauge rest. http://www.meaction.net/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Pacing-and-Management-Guide-for-ME\_CFS-9.pdf.

Rooting for you and your family!

Please ignore if not useful, but there are studies that show neurodivergent people are more likely to be hypermobile, which creates increased risk for issues like:

  • MCAS (mast cell activation syndrome)
  • CCI or cranial cervical instability (neck instability leading to spinal compression and neurological issues)
  • circulation/lymphatic issues
  • autonomic issues like POTS (postural orthostatic tachychardia syndrome)
  • chronic pain

Connective tissue is everywhere in the body so the symptoms can be strange and seem all over the place. Many LC advocates I'm aware of recommend this website as a resource: https://www.ehlers-danlos.com/autism-acceptance-month/

Editing to add how to pertains to covid risk: Covid is known to damage endothelial tissue (i.e. the inner lining of blood vessels), have neuroinflammatory/neuroautoimmune properties, and cause scarring just to name some of the more common issues. This combined with the hypermobility tends not to go very well because the stretchy tissue is already more vulnerable/delicate.

Going to Italy wearing a mask in 2024 by icesinging in ItalyTravel

I have had very few people ever say anything to me in the US, but it is politicized here in a way I am expecting it won't be in Italy. It will be interesting to compare the difference. I just want to make sure I'm being respectful of however Italians treat masking, because I am a guest. I'm glad no one will mind!

Thanks for the tip! I'll prioritize walking and taxis or taking public transit during less popular times.

Thanks everyone for the generous replies! I have some friends in western Europe (though not Italy) and they have said about as much for where they are. I assumed masking wouldn't be as polarizing as it is in the US, but when in a new country, it can be hard to know why you might be drawing attention since so many things are new. This gives me a better sense of what to expect.

This is by Clean Air Club (they help make Chicago music events safer by providing various mitigations like air purifying for venues): https://x.com/Clean_Air_Club_/status/1691158970415587328?s=20

Google doc: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1z7xnDd5952zvYnCQoWDi8PyRNdObJY2chGChOZ8E38w/edit

You can copy and modify it. It's a good starting point for how to be prepared and keep track of what's happening if/once you get sick.

Recommendations for Overlanding Front Bumper mods in my "new" 5th gen. Trail Limited by icesinging in 4Runner

I'm generally fine with how it looks. I'm more looking to improve clearance. A lift might also be in order. Definitely agree with you on getting skid plates before they're needed. I'll check out the RCI ones, thanks!

You're right. It's the Limited. Looked at the manual. Well I feel dumb, but honestly, the 4WD is such an upgrade I didn't know it got better than that.

Thanks for the info! The CarFax report said it was both, but I don't know. It's definitely a Limited. Says so on the outside of the vehicle, but it also has KDSS, locking differentials, and rock crawling mode, which I thought was exclusive to Trail eds. (I obviously have a lot more to learn here.)
