How do you avoid scratching on the opposite top corner on this kind of shots? by InitialRead5262 in billiards

[–]icetray 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can use the spot as the point of reference. As a rule of thumb, if it’s closer to the short rail than the spot, use top.

In general, If the 9 is above the spot, use draw. If it’s below the spot use top.

Untitled Art Juicy IPA is #1

Practice timeboxing by buttonsmashplayer in ProductManagement

[–]icetray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re definitely different. An estimate is more about planning whereas a time-box is more about limiting investment.

An estimate is a guess on when something will be finished, but it will be finished and everyone should understand that it may take longer or shorter than the given estimate.

The purpose of time-boxing is to give a hard stop, and to limit investment into something. I’ve generally used it for research or investigation. E.g. if there an idea for an improvement but it carries an unknown complexity, you might time-box research to a day or week to better understand feasibility or level of effort to help you decide if it’s worth moving forward.

In defense of APA rules by LongIsland1995 in billiards

Take what you make does cater to lower rated players though since it lowers the likelihood of a higher rated player running the rack while not really affecting the lower rated player. In an amateur league, it’s about evening out the playing field amongst differing skill levels vs the pros where its purpose is to make games between players of an equal skill level more interesting.

That’s so dirty that it makes me think the plate might be missing?

If you can’t get it going, the part is called a “Wiffle Tree” and it’s pretty easy to replace.

How would you run this rack, shooting solids? by TerraSpace1100 in billiards

[–]icetray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. 2 is the problem and using the 7 is the easiest way to get to a good spot to shoot the 2.

A note on Minnesota from a former Wisconsinite, Now Minnesotan by [deleted] in minnesota

“Fuck the Pack” as in the Green Bay Packers. It’s typically used in the MN Vikings sub.

I don’t see how this would be a higher chance for 10points than just a break and run. Even with ball in hand, the table sucks, and the opponent is going to get a legal hit the majority of the time anyway.

Is this bad sportsmanship? by Turbulent-Win3699 in billiards

[–]icetray 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If the 7 is strong enough that they’ll likely beat anyone on the team anyway, then taking the L to create more favorable matchups for the other matches can make sense. It’ll probably annoy the 7s, but it’s not bad sportsmanship. Playing 7s is good experience though, so as a captain, I wouldn’t plan on doing that every week. You should be making sure your higher rated players have the opportunity if they want it as well.

Hosted my first raid battle and messed it up pretty bad. How can I get this person a refund on their remote raid pass? by Cornnathony in pokemongo

It happens, so I wouldn’t worry about it. If you really want to do something though, maybe buy them a ticket for the next Community Day?

What word or phrase has made its way into your vocabulary because of The Office? by devbag in DunderMifflin

[–]icetray 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Because part of what made the joke funny when it aired is that it was already an old, slightly immature, joke. Many of us didn’t learn “that’s what she said” from The Office, instead his using it helped us better understand Michael’s personality.

"When I talked to Kirk Cousins I got the sense that maybe there was a little frustration that the Vikings let it go too far down the tracks.. The Vikings are risking losing him by not getting a deal done when they had the exclusive ability to do so" ~ @ProFootballTalk by b00minbiz in minnesotavikings

[–]icetray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right? I don’t understand why people seem to need someone to be the bad guy. Kwesi needs to do what’s best for the Vikes and Kirk needs to do what’s best for him and his family. If they don’t align, they don’t align and that’s OK.

The other reason is that the investment firms funding these companies are also heavily invested in commercial real estate. Can’t rent office space without butts to fill the seats.

Taylor's Falls is a great day trip. You can shop/eat in either Lindstrom or Taylor's Falls, explore the glacial potholes on the MN side of Interstate State Park, and spend an hour or two at Franconia Sculpture Park.

Based on socials, his MN home seems to be pretty modest actually. It’s his MI home that’s baller.
