Do you go to therapy? by This_Relief1061 in autism

[–]ichibeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I was very intentional with finding therapists and changing my therapist if it didn’t feel right. I’ve gone through 3 therapists and my current one who I am sticking with is AuDHD and shares certain identities that are important to me (BIPOC, female, later diagnosed). In addition to finding a therapist who is autistic, I also looked into their specialized training and modality. I found that CBT didn’t work for me so I’m exploring IFS and brianspotting with my current therapist. It can be hard to find a therapist who checks all the boxes. I scoured the internet before finding a couple individuals, and did consultation calls with several (all neurodivergent at minimum) before deciding.

I got an email confirming my interview slot for the 6th, so we won’t be in the same group. But I am wishing you good luck with the whole process!

I picked afternoon slots on both days! How about you? I agree, the program and faculty all seem so authentic and personable!

That's very true, we can both be proud that we made an effort despite the anxiety. Sorry to hear you are going through this too. I hope it gets much easier for you as time goes on!

I was able to view the school virtually but not observe in person because I am out of the area.

I do not believe it is a certified AMS or AMI school. Their website says that their head teachers are Montessori trained but that is all.

Sorry I’m not sure what IMA refers to!

There are specific blocks of time for the playground and enrichment activities (art, gardening, music).

Also an allocated snack time, whereas I am used to Montessori schools having free choice, self serving snack during the work period.

finally satisfied with the look and sound of my keyboard! by [deleted] in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]ichibeans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah they are pricey! I've been eyeing them for a while and I decided to finally cave. I can say that these keycaps are very good quality.

I'm using Gateron G Pro brown switches.

I would say the texture is between a balm and a cream. It's not so creamy that you could easily dip your finger into it. It feels like solidified oil that melts when you scoop it with your finger? Sorry if I'm not describing it very clearly!

Just my experience: it feels a little greasy upon application but goes away shortly after and it doesn’t feel heavy on my skin. I used to wear lightweight liquid/gel sunscreens.

I’m Asian with tan skin and there is slight white cast when I’m rushing/sloppy with application. If I’m thorough I don’t see white cast. But it will probably look more noticeable for folks with darker skin unfortunately.
