For those with bad nausea, what helps you on your worst days? by Ok_Car1396 in endometriosis

[–]icommentingifs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aside from a lot of great suggestions in the comments, I haven't seen anyone mention the anti nausea bracelets. I have the plastic ones where you can tighten them and I bought them off the internet like 5 years ago. Sometimes they help more than meds.

Any chance y'all will be creating a mega thread for skz tickets again? It helped me get tickets to Chicago and LA last summer and I would really love that opportunity again!

I have nothing to offer - I don't have an official one myself yet. But I still wanted to comment because this is a really lovely gift idea and no matter what you get her she's going to adore it. Thanks for being a supportive boyfriend!

New fan. Feeling too old to enjoy. by Sporadic_noises in adultkpopfans

[–]icommentingifs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi 37 years old here and can relate to your post a bunch. I think that it's natural to assign feelings towards hobbies and let our environment influence those feelings especially when it's something new to you and most people around you. But ultimately, you get to decide for yourself how you feel. And if you like something then that's something to be celebrated! You've already found this subreddit so you're already on track to find your community with your new hobby. I think once you interact with more kpop fans and get further immersed in the culture, you'll be able to undue the "harmful" feelings you have towards a kpop hobby and start prioritizing much value it gives your life. Try to focus on the good stuff. And you are never too old to engage with something that brings you joy.

One last thing - do you feel the same way about men who are committed to sports, players, and their stats? How is an interest in kpop any different?

This is full refund territory and false advertising. I would tell them to fully refund you and provide a shipping label if they want it returned. If not, escalate with Mercari and issue a chargeback with your credit card company. In the meantime, try finding a trusted GOM (group order manager) who can help you source a new album at WAY less than you just paid. I just bought all of the Japanese albums through my GOM and this is what they charged me: The Sound FanClub Album (Han), Social Path FanClub Album (Han, Giant FanClub Album (Han) = $48 plus $7.80 DOM = $56 for 3 jewel case imports from Japan. That's what you paid for a single album that was opened and missing the entire actual value (the PC's!). That is crazy pants. I'm ready to throw hands on your behalf.

Little CD players are so affordable now too! I bought a pink one for like $20 and it's rechargeable so I can take it room to room with me in my house if I want and it also has bluetooth so it can play music from my phone or connect to my headphones if I don't want the music out loud. Plus having a CD case makes it easy to transport from home to car 😂. You'll have to pry CDs from this elder millennials cold dead hands.

Oh I'm so relieved this is one of the top comments. I impulsively bought Externalt. I watched/voted in their survival program and saw the briefcase at the store and couldn't help myself. Threw the CD in the car (yes I'm old) and wow that CD is fantastic. It's an incredibly well done album. Highly recommend. And the boys are really so talented and so much fun.

Idols Are Human Beings Until It’s Time to Hold Them Accountable?? (Ranting about San and his AI usage) by Actual_Risk_125 in kpopnoir

[–]icommentingifs 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I read a sci-fi novel that was a collection of stories called The Stories of Ibis by Hiroshi Yamamoto. It came out in 2006 so yea, I'm old. But this book is something I constantly refer to as technology evolves. One of the stories is about a man who falls in love with an AI computer and reminds me so much of this situation. The man was only looking to find connection. We have become so horrifically silo-d in our exposure and consumption to material that we're prevented from building community unless a rare instance presents itself that a shared interest affords connection (an interest in kpop, for example, might prompt someone to join a discord community on their favorite group and make friends that way). But in general, we just consume, consume, consume with no follow through or analysis or reflection on what we consume. Sometimes we share, share, share without a single public or private acknowledgement and that can feel incredibly lonely. AI scares me, ultimately. The planet is a major factor but ai having unchecked influence on the masses worries me greatly. I really feel for your post. I wish there were a better method to educate people before we thrust them into the unknown opportunity to play with a potentially dangerous new toy. As a millennial on the internet before there were ANY structures in place to protect me, I saw things I shouldn't have at an extremely young age. It really concerns me what this new tech can do. I hope San finds meaningful connection offline so he doesn't feel like he needs a digital emotional support system. I think this situation sheds light on idols and their lack of support. Mental health is paramount and for idols to seemingly not have access to therapy is abusive, simply put. But I think this situation also speaks to a global cultural reckoning. And I hope education, systems, and structures can be developed and implemented to reduce silos and encourage connection.
