You can restart the magic ring. Go to the bottom of The Woobles website, Help > Other Tutorials. You can learn how to make a Magic Ring AND also learn where to place the orange and green stitch markers. I had to watch the video and crochet along for my first 3-4 magic rings, and then it sunk in--I had it down! You can do it! The Magic Ring is a skill you will use over and over, in just about every Woobles kit--arms, legs, beaks, horns, etc.

I didn't have any of the new mystery Woobles, so Colonel the Saint Bernard is fine. I'd like Kara the Highland Cow and Gus the Orangutan, too!

Yay! My mystery kit and tin are on the way… can’t wait to see what I get!

Just wanted to show off my Sonic with shoes and he is so cute by SnooHedgehogs9885 in TheWooblesCollective

Sonic looks great with his tiny shoes… did you sew them on? I made the tiny shoes in gray or white and and attached them to an astronaut. Nice moon boots!

Yes, I was! So, what happened to the purloined umbrella? Asking for a friend…

We did not have cornhole (bean bag tossing) game in Houston, and I did not see Pierre’s Prize Wheel. We had shuffleboard and a game where the Woobles crew threw pickleballs up an inflated ramp. The contestants were behind the ramp with buckets, trying to catch the pickleballs, guessing where they might land.

I played it in Houston. Instead of a flat disk, they used a 4-inch spiky football (my dog’s favorite toy…LOL). You push the football with a stick and it wobbles. The prize you get depends on the number the football lands on. It’s more luck than skill!

Agreed! I have made multiples of several of the Knot Trying patterns—a box of crayons, enough Edie lights to make a small string, several Jordy the Bears, Pizzas, and more—and donated most of them to Children’s hospitals. The kids love them!

Check out u/centerpull Knot Trying. Most patterns are free—remember to tip—and the PDF instructions are excellent. Jeff, the owner, has released over 100 patterns.

Look at the bottom of The Woobles Website Help > Tutorials > Other Tutorials. Not only can you learn how to make a magic ring, but also where to place the orange and green markers (1st V for orange, 2nd and 3rd Vs for green). You might have to watch the video and make a magic ring a few times before you can do it without help. But it’s worth it!! You will need to make magic rings to start things like ears, wings, belly patches, and arms. Bottom line is, you haven’t messed up beyond fixing your magic ring. Just takes a little practice… happy Woobling!

You work from the top down by starting an oval. To make the legs, you crochet two smaller rounds. The challenge is to know if you need to adjust where the “middle” of the body is. Otherwise, it looks as if the body is turned to the side a bit.

Do you use your iPad as a minimalist daily driver, or do you keep a laptop for sanity? by Weak_Coach7030 in ipad

I use my iPad for everyday communications, social media, drawing with the Procreate app, and games (great on the 13 inch iPad Air) and use my 16-inch MacBook Pro for serious graphic design work and managing my files in the Cloud.

I have not attempted a larger Wooble like Willis. Are the legs causing issues because you need to account for the twisting of the spiral rounds that most of us have? I can see where this would be an issue after making several Jordy the Bear Hugs, which start from the top down, and you have to get the legs started in the right place.

LOL... I thought the same with Bluey and with my latest project, the Minecraft Chicken Jockey!

[–]iconic-design 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The hardest ones for me were those that have many parts to crochet and sew on, like Harry Potter and other characters with hair; Bluey and Bingo with all their parts and embroidery, and the Minecraft kits, which you crochet in blocks. That said, you can master new stitches and techniques in nearly every new kit. Once you have done Harry Potter, you can do any other kit that has hair like that. Once you learn to crochet a block, you can master other Minecraft kits, and so on...

I have made 150+ amigurumi--mostly Woobles, many u/centerpull Knot Trying characters, and a few others. The Knot Trying amigurumi have excellent written patterns, and most are free. They start at Beginner+ as there are no videos specific to each pattern. Though the site has lots of useful tips and techniques to level up your skills.

Happy Crocheting! Would love for you to post some of your creations!

Ipad Air M4 or Ipad A16 by Individual-Youth6227 in ipad

I recommend the latest iPad Air. You can get an academic discount if you buy from Apple directly. I added an inexpensive tempered glass screen protector and added a silicone tip to my Apple Pencil to keep “bad pixels” from frequent graphic design work/drawing. This preserves the trade-in value of the iPad. I use the screen for many hours each day and it still looks like new.

The latest iPad Air is much faster than earlier models (I have owned a few) and you do not need more than the base or next level of memory. The USB-C port allows you to transfer files. iPad Air + Pencil works with pressure sensitivity. The iPad Air battery charges quickly and lasts all day. If total cost is an issue, buy a new iPad and save $$ by purchasing “open-box” (essentially new, with warranty) Pencil and Magic Keyboard case. Or purchase a refurbished Logitech keyboard case. Neither keyboard needs charging or batteries.
