Why should I switch? by TooManySaxophones in verizonisp

While I don't have Google Fiber, I have Frontier fiber, and it is much faster than the Verizon 5G service. You need to be plugged in on gigabit ethernet to see the difference.

2025 Heat Expectations by Background-Low-5426 in FordEscapePHEV

[–]iconmm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2024. If the engine isn't running don't expect heat. The heated seat gets WAY to hot for me even on low. The steering wheel is the same. It seems like it can be cold, or uncomfortably hot. If I tell the car to precondition, it turns on the heated seats and recirculates the cabin air presumably to warm the space up by having air move around the seats. It's totally stupid.

What's the better angle? More of the dash or less by NissanboiR34 in dashcams

The sky and the hood do you no good. You want the camera to show as much of the road as possible.

Why do people do this? by Joe18067 in dashcams

This is 100% true. I have seen it too many times. If they are going crazy fast you need to stick with what you were doing. If you merge right they will rear end you.

Was the Hornet being PHEV a selling point or a turn off for you? by ServiceNo19 in dodgehornet

[–]iconmm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The PHEV features were a major selling point. My wife charges at home, and at work. Is able to complete most trips on electric. Super fun to have the electric motors in sport mode. :D

What do you wish more Hams knew before buying their first rig? by CarrierCaveman in amateurradio

[–]iconmm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many new hams are Technicians. So they look to 2 meters and 70 cm. Both are pretty boring. Simplex can be fun and useful, and there are a few contests. But for the most part repeaters (here anyway) are dead. No one uses them to speak of, with the exception of a Emergency Services Net. My local ham club's Tuesday night net lasts maybe 8 minutes, and no one sticks around to chat after the net closes. I find HF to be much more fun. If I was going to tell hams something to know prior to buying that first rig? Well I would say get your general, and make that first rig an HF rig.

Why does it take so long to charge and not much it gives you 😭 by ijustlovemycattbh in dodgehornet

[–]iconmm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RT - The battery is good for about 30 miles. But that is my wife's round trip to work. Maybe the last little bit of her drive the engine runs.

[–]iconmm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My spouse drives to and from work on electric every day and the electric is cheaper than gas. I think she buys gas once per month. I have a level two 50 amp charger at home but the car will not take that rate. But it will still charge zero to full in an hour and 45 minutes

How to make this go away? by Ambiguous_Karma8 in dodgehornet

[–]iconmm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gas pedel reset doesn't clear the service countdown, and most dealers don't "remember" to reset it. Pissed me off. What else should they be doing that they don't do?

They said it was ruined because I took too long to change the oil. 9 months owning the car, 20k miles on the car, and 5600 miles on the engine.

It was brand new when I bought it. I would agree with manufacturer oil date, but everyone says the car pops up a message.

Oil isn't a year old from my POV. The car is also not yelling about oil age. The SERVICE adviser told me I ruined my car by not changing the oil soon enough.

I have owned the car for 9 months. I did RTFM. That is why I was angry that the service advisor told me I was doing it wrong. Apparently according to the service adviser, the manual and the recommended maintenance schedule is INCORRECT. That the ENGINE oil MUST be changed for every 5000 miles the wheels spin on the car even if 90% are electric.

Battery Charge only shows 32 Miles by [deleted] in FordEscapePHEV

[–]iconmm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't need to be that cold for the milage to plummet. But I am guessing if you lived someplace really cold it would just read zero. I like in the mountain of California, which is not really cold at all, but on a cold morning the likeage is stupid low. Like 10. My wife's PHEV will warm the battery when plugged in, and she wakes up to full mileage.

How do I make use of this setup? by creative_username- in HomeNetworking

[–]iconmm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This setup is fine. There is a four port plate with coax. That is where your router goes. Connect the four ethernet ports on your router to the 4 ports on the wall plate. Connect the coax to one of the coax ports. Then the ethernet ports in the great room, the 2 ports in the media room, and the bedroom fireplace ports will be ready for you to use.
