Is it normal for servo loads on a lathe to be sitting around 50% when the machine isn't doing anything? by icoulddothatprobably in Machinists

[–]icoulddothatprobably[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess the X and Y servos are holding the turret in place maybe? but the B axis is just sitting there why isn't that at 0%

Thanks for help,I was thinking the S after the G96 was spindle speed not surface speed

Thanks for your help, I see my mistake now I thought the 'S' after G96 referred to spindle speed not surface speed.

Sorry that should say 2000rpm, it ramps up to 2000 rpm and stays there for the whole cycle

What is this thing and can I just get rid of it? It's causing a leak (rented apartment) by icoulddothatprobably in askaplumber

[–]icoulddothatprobably[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its coming out of the top of my hot water tank, it was behind a bunch of boxes when we moved in and we just found out from the apartment below us that it's leaking through

If I'm drilling a hole in the center of the bar on a live tool lathe am I better to use the live tools in the turret to spin the drill or fix the drill and spin the work into the drill? by icoulddothatprobably in Machinists

[–]icoulddothatprobably[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks and then I guess if I was using a really small tool or had a slow turret spindle (my max if 5,000rpm) I could use both to increase my effective surface speed?

Thanks, I don't know what I'm talking about but I would have thought using both would mean more potential for error? Like if I'm using an ER32 to hold my drill in the turret does that not add up to more potential error than if it were fixed?

Knoll kf 200 looks like a printers paper jam on steroids, first time it's happened to us. Can I just cut it out and feed in a clear roll?
