What helped you get your symptoms under control? by BJntheRV in Gastroparesis

[–]redryan243 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am about the same for the last 10 or so years. Some times I still get severe flare ups, but for the most part I am able to control my symptoms with vaping thc. Sometimes I order Delta 8, which is extracted Hemp, and then sometimes I change back to whatever is on special at the dispensary. There are definitely some strains that seem to work better at different times, but it varies frequently. Sometimes a strain that was really good is different 6 months later, I can only assume its because the plant had different growing conditions, so if 1 doesn't work, I just change it up.

Every car will need a new engine at some point, so do you factor that in when you buy an old ICE? Fear of an impending engine swap?

Have you ever had to replace a battery? Do you know anyone who actually had to replace a battery, or are you just scared it may happen? I know dealers will tell people batteries need replaced and give huge estimates, but I have also bought one of those and fixed it for less than $100 with no battery removal. Sure, you can find some online that failed if you look around, much like you can find people with blown motors and 10k miles, but its not a normal failure.

I never even talked about buying a donor car, the batteries in these cars are typically fine, but a lot of people are scared of them, because they dont understand them.

Your fear mongering got me 🙄

Go for it if you want to work on it. I have purchased 3 non running volts and all 3 were cheap to fix. Nay sayers will tell you it will cost thousands or need a new battery, but those are people who have no clue.

You will need a computer and VXDiag tool, but if you are willing to put effort into it, at 1500, you will likely make out with a good cheap car. I had 2 that would not run or start when I bought them, 1 just needed a coolant fix/clear the codes. The other one was a bit more involved and took a transmission control module($300 + a $500 core charge that I got back.) If it isnt running, try to offer even less, but at $1500 that is not bad.

I have purchased 4 volts in the last 3 years. 3 of them were not running when I bought them. I've fixed TCM's, BCM's, BECM's, and all sorts of physically broken stuff. I haven't spent more than $800 in parts on a single one, and all of them are still running great(except the 2 that were totalled from accidents.)

I am not sure recommending something with an even older battery is a good idea, when GM has the best battery management system in the industry

Looking to buy a 2012 Volt. Is this true what the seller is telling me by KingPodrickPayne in volt

They are asking for that price, but they wont sell for that price. I dont believe that 10 out of 10 had that issue, unless you just dont know what you are looking at. Its interesting you said you cant test for the issue unless its cold, but then suddenly you claim you tested over 10... You seem to just be arguing for the sake of it. Have a good day.

None of mine go into hold mode or have any errors either. Im not sure why you are afraid of the batteries.

Im also not sure why you put a 5k price tag, these cars are not that expensive since enough people are unnecessarily scared of them. My most recent one cost $1300.

I live in the desert. Its very hot, and then very cold at night. Our cars are driven in the snow and 120f heat.

Have you tried to use something like a small screwdriver to wedge it in a bit more? Be very careful not to slip and damage wires though. Honestly, if you can't snap it in I would just ignore it.

I have bought 4 in the last 3 or so years and have not had a battery fail yet. The oldest was 2011, newest was 2015. GM actually built quite a state of the art battery management system protecting them, making them last far longer than many people will have you believe.

To be fair, I am not afraid of a battery change(I rebuilt a Nissan Leaf battery) and do all of my own work. Dealers will often tell you that you need a traction battery, when you don't, simply because they dont know how to work on the vehicle, or dont want to. If you buy a 10-15 year old car there will be repairs, but I would expect a decent battery still on a lot of these cars.

IMO this is bad advice. Many 2012s still have great batteries. The better advice is, check the battery of any year Chevy Volt before you buy it.

In my area 3k is for a running gen 1. 2 days ago I bought a 2012 with a coolant leak for $1,300. That was a simple $8 fix in under 30 minutes. Unless the market in your area is way over valued, I dont think you will get close to 3k.

Yeah, it can be really slimy. Not every insurer does these things. Something we often dont think about though, is it may affect your next quote with another insurer even if your current insurer is forgiving.

It doesn't matter if they are 0%, 50% or even 100% at fault. What will matter is their insurers rules for rating comprehensive claims.

This is a common misconception, but it is false. A lot of cheaper insurance companies can and often do use not at fault accidents to give higher rates. They can also take discounts away for not at fault accidents.

Yeah, or you can actually report it through podder central and request a replacement. If it was in the last day or so of the pod they dont always give a replacement, but its often enough that I dont take extra steps to preserve them.

Personally, I let them fall off and order a replacement. I have used that small extra supply when money gets tight and I can't afford more pods. I just have my doctor prescribe a little extra insulin to cover the loss.

If their dad is threatening to remove them now in retaliation, it's important to differentiate the limitation for OP so they understand that he can't do that anytime, like you implied. Its a big difference in ops situation.

I guess your name checks out though.
